NO, it's not really. Climate scientists can discuss the state of our understanding, try and understand it and come to a current consensus based on the data and models. (They have.) There's really not any point in "debating" it. Science isn't debated. Argument won't change the reality one iota..

When minnow swallower entitled the thread "actual scientist" does that mean that he/she realizes that all the other anti-climate change $hit he/she posted was just that?

Happer pointed to the problems in predicting Hurricane Irma's path when it made landfall last summer.

"First, the models predicted a direct hit on Miami and the east coast of Florida," he said. "Then, defying these predictions, the hurricane suddenly veered to the west coast of Florida. In other words, even with massive amounts of real-time data, the models still could not accurately predict Irma's path two days in advance.(yall are fucking IDIOTS!)

"Does any rational person believe that computer models can precisely predict temperatures decades from now? The answer is, they can't. That's why, over the last 30 years, one climate prediction after another - based on computer models - has been wrong. They're wrong because even the most powerful computers can't solve all the equations needed to accurately describe climate."

That hasn't stopped (prog liberal statist commie) scientists from doubling down on their hypotheses.

Weather is not climate. Weather is real time, micro changes are harder to model the small changes in outcome they produce.
Even still hurricane path prediction is much better than it used to be.

Climate change due to C02 is slower and they do have a decent handle on it.
Comparing the two is a shitty weak an unscientific argument.

Climate scientist agree on the big picture and have been refining the models fpr decades.

Those funding the denialists know the truth, they just need a few more decades of inaction to maximize the return on their oil lease investments.
They rely on trolls like the above to help with that.

The formation of the storm was predicted predicted pretty far in advance and the intensity models did well. The precision of the track forecast and timing was not that far off either. The difference between Marco and Miami on a storm making that right hook turn is tiny in forecasting terms. The fact that the right turn was predicted way in advance is more significant than the fact that the storm was 100 miles further west than the forecast line.

Anybody remember how NWS nailed the forecast of Sandy, extra-tropical transition and retrograde movement and all a week in advance?

Plus, the chaotic variability of weather is much harder to model on a short precise scale than is figuring out that trapping more infrared radiation will make things warmer.

Plus, every reliable means of measuring temperature has shown a global increase. Even our local weather seems consistently warm. January was about the coldest weather pattern you can possibly get for East Coast FL with multiple frontal passages and the wind blowing perfectly straight down the Peninsula to cut of the marine influence. The pattern was very much like December 1989. Coldest I saw at our house was 29. Our zone 10a plants are happy. Our zone 10b plants are a little upset but okay. Our house is solidly in zone 9b according to historic averages. It has been a long time since we had a 9b winter though. The summers have been ridiculous with overnight lows generally being above average for every day for 4-5 months from late May into September. I lost count of the number of nights that we did not go below 80F in the last few summers. 16 was the worst when we set records for rainless days while having record high dew points and record high night time temps.

To use a numerical weather model as an example to try and debunk climate models shows that you have absolutely zero understanding of such things. Therefore your opinion is completely worthless.

One should not compare weather to climate. They are not the same thing.

it's like comparing f'er to a sane person.

Minnow gigger's "scientist" atheist hero is a frail narcissist but there are some similarities between the two:

  • Love oxy
  • Sickly
  • Wrong about climate change
  • Think bacon should be base of food pyramid

I'm sure it's just as likely as predicting 99.99% of your dialogue on here will consist mainly of the words like moron, fool, idiot, and liar.

The numerical models did a great job predicting the formation and track of the mid-latitude cyclone that snowed in Savannah and ushered in our first decent cold weather in several years. Got that one way in advance.

That storm and weather pattern was very similar to the Christmas Eve blizzard of 1989 when Wilmington NC got nearly 2 feet of snow and it got to -3F at my house in inland southern VA. A lot of stuff died down here too.

The trajectory of the weather with adding heat to the atmosphere can't be precisely predicted in a chaotic convection driven system and all the feedback loops. But it is fairly straight forward what happens when you increase the r-value of the insulation.
