apparently not
THAAD, Patriot and especially Aegis, have done fairly well in tests, but these have been tests designed for success, simplified, carefully staged and using mostly short-range targets. Aegis has only been tested once against an intermediate-range target says Reif, one of the leading experts on U.S. missile defense programs. What about our long-range defenses, the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense, or GMD, interceptors based in Alaska and California? There the test record is even worse. Even under ideal conditions, where the defenders knew the time, direction and trajectory of the test target and all the details of its shape, temperature, etc., this system has only hit its target half of the time. ------------------------- It's a democratic hoax Edited: 01/14/2018 at 11:15 AM by nukeh2o |

How do you go on day to day with such doom and gloom. Past administrations didn't seem to think the N.Korea problem was important enough to solve. Now someone is taking it seriously and you are spooked like it gonna be nuclear war before Mueller finishes his investigation or god forbid, the 2020 election. Take a pill.

We aren't afraid of NK, we are afraid of Trump's grade school temperament.

It's clear that the threat of our missile defense is a better hand hand to play than actually using them and finding out that they are not as effective in practice.

Well, there it was all packaged in one nice declassified article for all to see. I am glad the US government gave us all that info about our ability to take out incoming ICBMs No need to keep any of that stuff secret. In case I am misunderstood, sarcasm.

Haven't we killed every dictator who's given in to our demands with respect to weapons of "mass destruction"? Not that they didn't have it coming, but we've put ourselves in a position where Kim almost certainly will not give up his nukes.
What he seems to be doing is making nice with the South, and if he is successful in reassuring the South and China to the North that his weapons are defensive only, the US will be shut out. All the rhetoric in the world won't get him to move, and a pre-emptive strike would be insane (but probably possible under the trump regime). We'd be back to.... wait for it..... Sanctions. ------------------------- “It is the heart of US policy to use fascism to preserve capitalism while claiming to be saving democracy from communism “ - Michael Parenti |
