"Give them bread and circuses and they will never revolt" - Juvenal

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_circuses

"Bread and circuses" (or bread and games; from Latin: panem et circenses) is metonymic for a superficial means of appeasement. In the case of politics, the phrase is used to describe the generation of public approval, not through exemplary or excellent public service or public policy, but through diversion; distraction; or the mere satisfaction of the immediate, shallow requirements of a populace,[1] as an offered "palliative". Its originator, Juvenal, used the phrase to decry the selfishness of common people and their neglect of wider concerns.[2][3][4] The phrase also implies the erosion or ignorance of civic duty amongst the concerns of the commoner.

Are you not entertained by the current circus provided by the media, and gobbled up by the progtards?

The circus folded the tent yesterday. Is Walmart reopening it's bakery soon? That $1 a loaf stuff is the bees knees!

No, sounds like:

  • Removing historical statues because they were deemed "racist" by people ignorant of history. Because....by removing the statues, it never happened...isgust;
  • Blaming a flag, and canceling a TV show because the car had said flag on the top, or stop selling a flag because some crazy white phsyco shot up a church. Because, you know, by doing this will stop any future occurences.....isgust;
  • Pushing the narrative for what, 8 months now?, that Trump is in bed with Russia and thats why the Ds lost.  Because, you know, who cares there hasn't been any evidence provided or all the other reasons the Ds lost. Conjecture/circumstantial combined with constant barrage will make it so.

Poor snowflake got triggered.

So the city governments in cities like New Orleans and Orlando are deliberately engaging in the broader liberal "bread and circus" conspiracy by removing tributes out of their positions of reverence and into places of historical record?

Placating the masses with violent displays to distract them as the republic falls to ruin is not the analogy that fits the removal of statues of people on the losing side. That history will still exist, it just won't be celebrated or exalted.

12 hours a day these people watch Faux News hoping to catch an upskirt glimpse of some conservosnatch, and then they talk about appeasement.

Are you not entertained?

Lots of aftermarket plastic for a demographic that never recycles their plastic.

Nicki Haley had the Confederate flag removed from SC government buildings.

She was "hand selected" by Trump just like his professors at Trump University.

The history on the New Orleans confederate statues is dismal. Here's their Mayor's remarks:

NOLA Mayor eloquently talks statue removal and history

I mean it. Eloquently. NOLA is pretty lucky.

Was hoping there was a transcript of that speech available.

Funny OBX hits on that as an example of "bread and circuses".

Mitch is a former prosecutor. His sister is Mary Landrieu. He's very sharp. This is the guy he replaced for those with a memory for the more bizarre speeches a mayor ever gave. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate_City_speech

Yes, it's all the evil medias fault.

They never said shit when Clinton was with Monica or Obama said no one would lose their insurance or Benghazi or Benghazi or Benghazi or Benghazi....

Flynn just took the 5th and blocked the Russia investigation. I imagine that's the media's fault too?

Funny that you don't grasp the concept, and can't connect the dots...

There is a movement by the NAACP to remove all monuments of confederate soldiers. Any politician that submits to this madness, is putting on a show to appease the masses, when in reality, it does nothing..........its just a circus.

Not a good job of appeasing the masses when so many of you people are "disgusted" by the "madness".

You people sure are upset about removing Confederate Idols from positions of veneration in United States cities considering that "it does nothing....".
