Gotta agree 100% with that!! The only thing that makes sense to me is that people who are spiritual ( not necessarily religious) seem to be more happy, friendly, easy get along with etc just as a whole more at peace BUT people who are firm scientific absolutely anti religious "atheism" just always seem to be stressed out, mad, angry etc it almost seems like they're grasping for any little thing fighting a fight just can't win??

I say this as somebody who has PhD did research in quantum mechanics, but believes in higher power I choose call GOD

Personally, I firmly believe that religious ideology is holding humanity back from the next stage of human evolution

Jesus, heals the sick, raises the dead, turns water into wine, walks on water, feeds the hungry, confronts authority, comforts the downtrodden.

What... What do YOU, think the next stage of human evolution will do???

Embrace Jesus because whatever you're waiting for isn't going to be as good.

I'll give you points for feeding the hungry, confronting authority, and comfort for the downtrodden. Sounds like a socialist to me. Trump would call someone who does that a loser.

The key to happiness and meaning in life has nothing to do with any religion. Its innate. Its hardwired into our system. Put OTHERS before yourself. It really is that simple. When you choose to live this way, you will both be happier and more fulfilled. In my view, this is all "plain to see". Thats not to say that you shouldn't enjoy life. But, if you think of others' best interest first, you WILL be happier and fulfilled.

Originally posted by: Cole It's been more than 2,000 years. When is all this healing supposed to take place?

Hey Cole, Jesus heals all the time.  He's the same yesterday, today, and forever.  I've personally witnessed countless healings.  Jesus said lay hands on the sick and they'll recover.  I don't understand it, and I certainly don't understand why some get healed instantly and others don't.  It's not my place to try and have it all figured out, I just know I can trust Him and His Word and I'll keep going for it.

This is one of the first healing miracles I witnessed and had the pleasure of being a part of.  I'll never forget a middle school aged kid in my youth group back in the early 2000s who came to church all bummed that he delveoped some condition in his knee (Osgood schlatter disease) and he couldn't play football anymore.  He had tremdous pain and walked with a limp and everything.  I had the other kids lay hands on him according to the Word and just pray that Jesus would heal him.  As God as my witness that kid said he felt fire in his knee and I asked him if the pain was gone.  He said yes.  I asked him to do something he couldn't do before and he bent down all the way to the ground with no pain.  I asked him to walk around and his face was beaming as there was no pain.  He then took off running and did a few laps around the sanctuary just sprinting with no pain and the kids were cheering and clapping and it was pretty amazing.

Another time there was a lady in our church with lung cancer and tumors all throughout both lungs.  She had done some procedures to prepare for a surgery to remove them.  Before the surgery she came for prayer and one of the pastors who I was on staff with really loved to pray for the sick.  I've witnessed this dude pray for hundreds of people and they get healed and it never gets old, but this one had documentation which is why I recall it so well.  She came up front to be prayed for and again described a fire going through her chest.  She said she just knew she was healed.  She goes back to the hospital and insists that they take more pre-op xrays.  They already had the xrays of the tumors in her lungs but she insists.  Lo and behold she gets the xrays done again and her doctor enters the room with a TEAM of other doctors.  They are in disbelief as the xrays revealed absolutely no tumors.  She was of course boisterous and one of those Christians you'd laugh at for being a fanatic as she told them about Jesus and how He healed her.  When Jesus touches you though you're changed, you just are.  Why do you think I'm a Jesus freak?  Needless to say they canceled this lady's surgery and literally wrote "miracle" on her medical chart.

All I can tell you is what I've witnessed.  Jesus is the real deal.  There's a lot of hokey stuff on the internet, but here's one that I believe is a real miracle also.  It was produced by skeptics and I still don't think they believe judging from the host's reaction at the end but maybe it will help someone out there struggling: CrazyEyeMiracle

God must laugh when he kills 200+ people with an earthquake in central Italy, and then we "thank" him for the few we find alive and dig out of the rubble.

OR.....

Maybe earthquakes are caused by the heathen science of plate tectonics, and we can just be happy that a few people survived this natural disaster.

Only my family and friends could tell you I don't have the capacity to be a sociopathic liar.  If it makes you feel better I can probably track down the kid who's knee got healed.  You probably wouldn't believe him either though.

I could tell you about the lady who came to Paradise the day we did some live music and a cookout for everyone at the park.  It rained and so a lot of people came under the pavilion for shelter.  There were at least 60-70 people there when I shared a strong "impression" I had that I recognized as being from God.  I don't always get it right, in fact I've prayed for lots of people who DO NOT get healed.  Enough do, though, and even though I don't understand why I'll always go for it.  God loves people and so do I.  That's why I do it.  A healed thumb might not be a big deal to you, but when it's your thumb that's in terrible pain and you get free of it is a big deal to you.

So anyway there's plenty of people to witness when I spoke out this impression that I had.  I said, "is there anyone here that has been having nagging lower back pain (I pointed right to the location) for the last 5 years?  It came from some kind of accident and I believe God is showing me this because He is going to heal you."  Immediately this lady in the back shot her hand up.  I asked her if she would mind telling us what was going on.  She said she just moved to the area two weeks prior with her boyfriend (he was there).  She said 5 years ago she was living in Michigan, driving in the snow, her car slid off the road and she hit a guardrail.  She said it was a bad accident and she's had nonstop lower back pain for the last 5 years.  Now I don't care who you are that's pretty incredible.  I even asked her if we had ever met or anything like that and of course we hadn't and she and her boyfriend acknowledged that.  Becuase as a skeptic watching this take place, of which there were many, that could be the only rationale you could have.  That or calling me a liar.  Anyway I didn't even pray for her.  I asked some other ladies to come and pray for her.  I asked her after prayer where her pain level was on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being unbearble pain.  She said an 8 before prayer and for the last 5 years.  After praying she said it was a 3-4.  So the ladies kept at it and after praying again she testified her pain was a 0.  She was bending over and checking it out and everything.

Now only she really knows the depth of this confirmation to her of God's love in a genuine and personal way.  Even her boyfriend who stood there with that sort of dazed look in his eye didn't quite get how profound of a moment that was for her.  And that's the point, God wants us to know in a very personal, intimate way how deep is His love for us.  That's why Jesus came, to show us to point of laying down His life.

Listen bro I work a day job and have a wife and three kids to feed and when I do have free time it's to surf when there are any waves whatsoever.  I'm not trying to grow a church and could care less about attendance.  I don't even ask for offerings and I've actually taught AGAINST tithing as it's 1 of 613 laws that were never meant for us.  The whole reason I'm out there is because I love the beach and the ocean and PEOPLE.  To feel connected to the Almighty through worship is absolutely amazing and I love to do it.  COTB is just an open experience for anyone that wants to join.  My whole message is to change your mind about God and realize you DON'T need religion.  You don't need to try and please God or earn His approval.  Jesus did that for us.  There's a place of divine rest in Christ, a place of unspeakable joy.

Anway yeah to the point of healing Jesus loves to heal.  TunnelVision how's your back?  Would you believe if Jesus healed you too?

You should read the Bible, in Job it's clear that Satan brought natural disaster and disease upon Job and his family.  Jesus sometimes healed people by casting evil spirits out of them.  Evil spirits, not God.  Jesus said that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but He came that we might have life and life more abundantly.  People might be sitting there reading this say, "you know, I just don't know."  It's OK that you don't know, the question is... do you want to find out?

Sorry WG I was directing that Job reference to RustyTruck and the whole argument that God must be a terrible person if he's killing people and causing tragedy.  I do recall you don't believe in Satan though.  There's some really in depth stuff regading Satan and the 1/3 of the angels that he led in a rebellion against God in the Book of Enoch.  It's really wild stuff.  In the New Testament of the Bible in the book of Jude he actually quotes this Book of Enoch.  So even though it's not technically considered "sacred" by mainstream theologians it's certainly up there if it was quoted by Jude and made it into the NT.  There's a pretty amazing reference to Jesus in the Book of Enoch too, but the whole pre-adamic time period is there and also how these fallen ones inhabited earth and taught men how to make weapons and other enslaving kind of arts.  This stuff is all way deep though.  I like it simple, the Gospel is simple.  God so loved that He gave...  beautiful.  He loves us.  Our whole duty is to be loved by Him, and love each other.  The Gospel doesn't demand faith... it supplies it.  Jesus' faith supplies life.  We can rest in Him and His work.  It's amazing grace!

The God of the Torah is pretty damn terrible.
I think both they with their terrible God and you with your sacrificed jesus are all making it too complicated.

we know nothing

Sorry you think that.  The Torah shows the beauty of creation, that God would dwell with man in paradise He created.  He gaves us free will or else it wouldn't be real love or a real relationship.  Despite man's failure, choosing not to listen to God, constant selfishness, etc. God continually provides, shows mercy, and helps.  That's pretty great if you ask me.  Then Jesus comes to fulfill the law that no one could ever keep.  That's the whole reason there is a law, to show man there's no self-effort involved because it's impossible to keep 613 laws (of which the 10 are a part of).  And so Jesus comes to show us what God is really like.  His sacrifice was all about showing us, mankind, the peace that God always had towards us.  You're right, none of knew anything, so Jesus became like us to help us undersand and know the Father.  Greater loves has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for His friends.  It is simple, Jesus demonstrated God's love for us.

OK, yes
That is all I know.

Which is why I never get how "Christians" bother with the Hebrew mythology in the OT at all, or with any of the junk in the NT that's not the words of Jesus.

God shows no mercy...thousands are slaughtered in his name...great easy out, the devil, while claiming God to be omnipotent, interesting...when you see the dead bodies (or parts) lying about for no other reason than defending the faith, you will know in your heart that God is a lie...

Those who count Christianity above the other religions are just ignorant to the fact that they (while less barbaric than islamists) are in essence propagating the same fucked up agenda and ideals.

I might be mistaken but don't parts of lung go with the tumor? If tumors are too prevalent, they don't bother to operate.

Like I've said before, why would God cure a kid's knee, but take the life of a baby through painful cancer.
