BREAKING: Man in Dallas, TX Confirmed to Have Ebola - First Case in USA
By Eric Odom
September 30, 2014

The world is already shell-shocked over the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Africa. Until now, the outbreak has been contained overseas and hasn't been a direct threat here at home. Keywords... until now.

This has all changed today now that CDC is confirming a man who just got off a flight from West Africa is testing positive for Ebola.

Dallas News has more.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified the media at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday that Dallas has the first diagnosed Ebola case in the nation.

The federal agency scheduled a media briefing at 5:30 p.m. from its headquarters in Atlanta. Dallas County officials are expected to participate.

Dallas County went through a day-long anxiety attack Tuesday, waiting to hear if the first Ebola diagnosis in the nation would happen here.

An unnamed patient at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas was placed in isolation while awaiting test results for the dreaded virus. Apparently, the patient had traveled recently to a West African country, where the disease is spreading, and later developed symptoms that suggested Ebola.

A blood specimen from the patient was sent to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, a testing process that can take 24 to 48 hours to confirm an Ebola infection - or not.

The results came back about 3:32 p.m.

The CDC just finished up with a press conference where they say there is a real possibility others contracted Ebola from the man in Dallas. The man was on an inbound flight and had minor symptoms that became far more significant upon arrival in Texas. The man visited an emergency room where a blood sample was taken and later confirmed positive.

More on this story will be provided a details become available.

Not to worry, nobody has died in the US, yet.

CDC/WHO, whoever, projects that 1,000,000 in Africa could be infected by the end of the year!

On the bright side, , , , the last big outbreak had a mortality rate of 90%; this time the rate is only 60%! So far, , , ,

The mortality rate in Sierra Leone and Liberia is unknown but very high.

Lagos, Nigeria had a tiny outbreak (airline passenger).  The few people infected are dead or recovered, outbreak is over.  Part of the reason is that Nigeria had a Gates-funded emergency organization to get rid of polio.  When Ebola showed up, they changed over to Ebola, hurried in supplies, and spread information.  Also, Nigeria has far more doctors and even has air-conditioned hospitals, which makes work much easier for people wearing inection-barrier outfits.

And, thanks to the PiC, we are woefully unprepared for something like this.

I'm guessing that this fatuous dunce first learned that there was an ebola epidemic yesterday when he was watching TV. It is kind of helpful if you get your intelligence briefings, especially if you are a dog-faced idiot.

It never fails that the Conservative right, who is constantly yelling to cut taxes and slash the federal budget, are the first to complain when the government isn't spending enough on something and the government service THEY want is not available to thier standards when they want it. LOL

Um, who the hell has been president for the last six years and who has spent record amounts? Who squandered billions on his failed alternative energy initiatives and other boondoggles instead of spending it where it was actually needed and would do some good for the American people.

And read this carefully -

The message from the panoply of reports is clear: Although the U.S. clearly made strides after 2001 on pandemic preparation, those gains have stagnated and in some cases begun to reverse even as the risks for an outbreak grow with global travel and determined terrorists.

That's right, we made gains under Bush, but the PiC squandered them, as he has all things.

Sooner or later you will realize that this incompetent jackass has completely screwed up this country and the world. Hopefully, that will come before you and your family lay dying from ebola or a terrorist attack.

“CDC continues to work with reduced financial resources, which similarly affects state, local, and insular public health departments. … These losses make it difficult for state and local health departments to continue to expand their preparedness capabilities, instead forcing them to focus on maintaining their current capabilities,” the CDC warned in a report this year.

And it would be ALOT less if Paul Ryan had his way!

That's what I said, the PiC has decimated it, like he has the military.

Apr 10, 2013 (CIDRAP News) – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) takes a hit of about $270 million in the Obama administration's proposed fiscal year 2014 budget, including significant cuts to biodefense and emergency preparedness programs, officials revealed today.

And the rest of the dems haven't helped a bit. Instead of putting money into useful programs, they have been advocating stupid crap like this:

Here's a fact, unless you are extremely careless you aren't getting ebola:

When an infection does occur in humans, the virus can be spread in several ways to others. Ebola is spread through direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with

  • blood or body fluids (including but not limited to urine, saliva, feces, vomit, and semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola
  • objects (like needles and syringes) that have been contaminated with the virus
  • infected animals
  • Ebola is not spread through the air or by water, or in general, food. However, in Africa, Ebola may be spread as a result of handling bushmeat (wild animals hunted for food) and contact with infected bats.

Note: not airborne.

So let me get this straight...If an ebola patient coughs and covers his cough with his hand then opens a door with the same hand and then you open that same door and get the virus directly on your hand and then eat lunch with that hand (a sandwich)....you can't get it?

Or lets see...someone coughs at a table across from you and their tiny cough particles splatter you in the face....you can't get it?

Just curious.

A "leading French virologist" predicts that up to 5,000,000 will die from this outbreak! The "virus" community is absolutely frantic worrying that Ebola will mutate and become "airborne". If that happens, All Bets Are Off.

So you're saying tens of thousands of black Africans are extremely careless  and unhygenic fools?  Whites, on the other hand, are hygenic enough avoid this disease? We don't need your type on this forum, racist SOB!

Most people who have caught Ebola in Africa got it by caring for a person with Ebola. Cleaning up vomit and shit most likely.

Unfortunately, some progs work in hospitals. Only 75% of them are unemployed.

Tspank somehow bringing race in to this.  Shocker there.

The United States (which is composed of all races) has the resources and isolation here to combat a virus spread the way ebola is.   Daner is right in the reason it is spreading so fast in Africa.  People with ebola are cared for at home and with the release of bodily fluids chance of infection is high.
