Today we're starting a fun little sandwich project we're calling the "Sandwich Tour of America" wherein we have a special sandwich that's native to each state, and rotate the state/sandwich every week or so, alphabetically.
Wikipedia told us that Alabama is the first state alphabetically, so behold the Alabama Pulled Chicken with White Sauce Sandwich! It's a tip of the hat to Northern Alabama's unique white BBQ sauce invented by Big Bob Gibson's BBQ. And it's delicious!
Here's what it looks like at the pub:

And here's some more info on the sandwich if you want the recipe for home:

We'll run with this for a week or so and then move on to Alaska. Cheers!

Not at all sure what would be typical of Wyoming.  Elk, maybe?  Oregon might need ice cream.

Today's most likely the last day of Alabama. We'll soon be packing our knives and be moving to Alaska.

so, I split the sammich with someone tonight.  pretty tasty.  I liked the sauce and the peppery-ness.  I asked what Alaska might be and the server had no insight.  Okay.  no worries. I'll wait.

Glad you liked it! I didn't know what to expect from a White BBQ sauce but I was pleasantly surprised with it. Pretty unique flavor. I've been trying to procure some reindeer sausage for the Alaska sandwich, but no luck. I couldn't find a local source, so I was looking at overnight sausage shipping from Alaska and it broke my math.

Yeah we already tested the Alaska recipe and are really happy with it. We'll start selling them tomorrow. More details then!

Great idea! Is each state going to be a surprise? Please post as you go, I know I'm going to want to come in and try some of them.

We've moved on to Alaska! We're really happy with how this turned out. It's a panko breaded and fried 6oz salmon cake made from wild-caught Alaskan salmon, shallot, herbs and other goodies, drizzled with a horseradish-dill aioli sauce and served on a kaiser. Cheers!

We might give that salmon a try tonight.

A little off topic, but since ceviche and beer go together so well, and you sell a lot of beer, uhhh, hint hint...

If you wanted to repeat your theme, you could do ceviche in the style of a different country every week.

Peruvian ceviche is the traditional original of course, but even within Peru they've really branched out on the styles.

Anyway, I've had ceviche made with all sorts of fish, shrimp, squid, mussels, scallops, and even lobster... most marinated in lime juice, but some in lemon juice, and one Bahamian style ceviche marinated in orange juice.

had the salmon patty yesterday.  Coulda been more crisp, but still tasted fine.  Glad you got the grapefruit sculpin back (so tasty), but didn't know it was on par with the cask wine price.  The habanero ballast point was interesting.  Somewhat similar to the chili beer out of texas.

Yeah Sculpin is a high priced keg as it is, and Grapefruit is even more expensive. Ballast Point makes quality beers but they come with a hefty price tag. We're one of the best Ballast Point accounts and we go first crack at the Habanero Sculpin. Interesting is right!

That state's problematic. Anyone from the East side of PA expects it to be a cheesesteak. Folks from the West side expect a Primanti's style sandwich. I'm glad I have time to noodle on that one.

One of each, just to show the diversity?

Oh, and Maine could just as easily be the Italian - special hoagie roll, ham, cheese, green pepper, onion, tomato, pickle (sour), salt & pepper, olive oil. I make them all the time. Amatos rules!

Our Sandwich Tour of America has moved on to Arizona! You're looking at a Tucson invention, the Sonoran Hot Dog. It's an all beef, quarter pound, bacon wrapped hot dog in a fresh bun topped with homemade guacamole and Pico de Gallo... And it's delicious!
