I was right.

He did a book signing in Vero around 2000ish.  Got to meet him albiet briefly.  What was just as interesting was listening to all the folks from the Cape in line in front of me that had worked with him, or launched him, or recovered him, and were sharing their stories.  The book is worth a read.

Met him many, many, years ago. We were very stoked to be able to meet an Astronaut and say hello, etc. But, it was sort of not too thrilling because, after all, he had not yet flown, like Alan had. LOL!
