Washington Post.  National Zoo animals got upset before people felt the shaking, lemurs first.

Meanwhile, this scene from Pennsylvania Avenue is a reminder that President Washington and his French engineer, L'Enfant, were thinking big when the city was planned, from scratch, with this grand avenue.

Looks like lots of damage in Virginia.

Sister said only land lines worked during the event, imagine all those peeps outside not being able to use a cellular service for anything? OMG

Looks like the cell networks were overwhelmed.  What you'd expect if everyone was outdoors.
