I know the pool in SFL is moving through the permitting process. Wonder if they have a plan to mitigate this risk?

Chlorine is your friend here kids!! I would not go into any warm body of fresh water in Fl unless its chlorinated. Remember the warmer the water the more microbes you will encounter.

I could be very wrong but the amount of chlorine to keep a acceptable level would cost too much for such a large body of water. Typhoon Lagoon can do it but not sure about the park sched for South FL. Maybe a pool owner can chime in ... Ins Co. may be unwilling to take the risk or if so it will be $$$$. Not the end of wavepools BUT maybe an end of any wavepool that the temp gets over X degrees. In short, I see full suits and new location in Michigan, etc.

What kind of self respecting Amoeba would go after a surfer for brains?

Replace turf grass with native plants that don't need irrigation and synthetic fertilizers or chemicals that can go into our waterways and ocean

Sadly it happened several times a while back at OWC but they seemed to put measures in place to keep it under control. Reaching out to them may yield some answers. I'm not too sure what they did

Been wondering how they we're going to handle this risk in wave pools built in the south. Sad to see.
My understanding of ameobas is they can't live in salt water. Wonder if they could maintain a level of salinity in the pools, or somehow have salt cells to convert the salt to chlorine. If they can chlorinate giant water parks they can manage a wave pool.

You mention Typhoon Lagoon...Disney's River Country had an amoeba issue back in the early 80s-ish I recall
