Probably closest to work. 9 days out of 10 you're going to drive to find a wave. I like 'em both, but Satty gets me to work faster and has more food options, and Lowes.

If work were not a factor, I'd lean toward Mel Beach though, just for the chill and lighter crowds. Proximity to the inlet is not as important as it used to be.

Both are awesome compared to Miami...

Proximity to work as RG says would be important.

Best thing I ever did after watching thewavescaster.com post rideable waves 250-300 out of 365 on my home page 15 years ago while living in Hollywood was move to Brevard...

Sure were some fun waves tonight, I wonder how Miami was breaking :/

Just the opposite for me.

I knew I would always drive to work,
whether it was Orlando or the Cape.
(you know, responsibility and for the family)

I opted to live when I play, and chose Satellite,
in-between so I could play to the north, in Satellite, or to the south.

As long as you are south of PAFB, you really can't go wrong. Compared to the rest of Florida, we have it good here.

If they make frequent trips back home to Miami being closer to I-95 would be better. Satellite has quicker access to i95 than melbeach.

the locals at satellite are way worse. they wax your windows and slash your tires in addition to taking your lunch money. melbourne all the way.

New Smyrna way more consistent!! Plus the fake reefs in Satellite Beach & Melbourne Beach may negatively affect the waves anyways. Move along, nothing to see here.

Heard MB is just one long deep trough, but RCs has oceanfront condos for sale.

Come to Vero Beach. No surf, but the house prices will make you feel like home in Miami.

Sat Beach is less pricey, and you can easily drive north to CB for the north wind days or high tide sessions.

If they have kids don't live way down near the inlet or you will drive yourself crazy playing chauffeur going back and forth.

Where you work def matters esp if it's cape side or Otown.

satellite beach has how many beach accesses? how many people go to each one?

Melbourne beach has a beach access at the end of every street. and then has ocean ave.

If you lived to where you were close enough to walk to the beach how many beach accesses can you walk to in satellite beach and how many in melbourne beach.

Because if you are not walking to go surfing then does life really matter? You get in a car, the guy in orlando gets in a car, the tourist from new jersey gets into a car and you all compete to park at a beach somewhereelse.

Depends on whatcha like.  Personally, my grandma lived in Oceanside, and I loved Radi.  Up til whenever, I surfed Turtle Beach(hightower) and that was amazing till they "paved paradise and put up a parking lot".  But yeah, can't go wrong in Satty especially when you can end the session at Dakines.  Melbourne Beach though has something special about it and I'm not refering to the needles floating in the lineup.
