Also, models are putting a tropical wave and/or possible low pressure system to the East of Florida next week. So there is hope!

I commented to someone this morning that our long summer drought is looking like the sort of dry September weather that finally breaks with some kind of tropical disturbance. |

Wed/afternoon model runs show a little better defined system East of the Bahamas next week. A tropical wave moving towards us and possible low development. This looks like the same scenario as last week's swell. A SE Trade wind swell enhanced with a topical wave. Something to watch. Virtual buoys shows an uptick Tue/Wed.

I'd be more excited for a good rain right now than surf! Kona!

9:00 AM EDT 29 July 2016 Update
97L's chances for development seem low, and it probably will not develop. 96L's chances are higher for development, but it will likely fall apart before getting near the Eastern Caribbean. 96L has a similar setup to Tropical Storm Dorian in 2013. Dorian's track plots. Dorian was a late July Cape Verde storm that fell apart before reaching the islands, then reformed briefly as a Tropical Depression off the coast of Florida, but never made landfall and became post tropical. Old articles about Dorian here and it reforming here. Overall a fairly forgettable system. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |
