This is a semi troll title, but the message is loud and clear. Surfing 4-5 times a week has taken a toll on my hair and beard. If I don't shower for a week or two my hair gets all its natural grease back and gets healthy again. Any secrets to those surf locks??

I am a hair farmer, I rinse right after I get out of the water really really good, then I let it totally dry (enjoy the volume for a couple hours haha. Then shampoo, condition, then a leave in conditioner or coco oil for the finishing touch!

Not when there is surf. Water is water!

coconut oil sure works wonders... I have to throw a decent amount on though to keep it all moisturized and then it looks dirty greasy :/

this is why i say, beard oils

you don't need so much and can achieve the same goal without feeling like a grease pit

coconut oil for other adventures isn't a bad idea though....
one of the 200 that i was hanging out with yesterday told me and my lady that it works
very well when you're girl is riding the fun shape

No razor has touched my face for at least a decade.  I typically trim back with a number 4 or 5 guard every 3 or 4 months.

I have never purchased or used any beard specific product.  Whatever I'm using to wash my face or hair (depending on length of beard) is all that I use.

I always thought one of the main purposes of having a beard was avoiding regular maintenance.

I have used Maestros beard wash and also their beard butter, works great but super expensive, like 15-20$ for a really small bottle, but i dont use often so kind of worth it.

for hair, I will admit may be gross but I quit using shampoo or conditioner about 3 years ago......why use soap to remove oils and conditioner to try to return them!

I have never been accused of having smelly hair by friends, chicks, or ladies who cut my hair, in fact they think it looks very healthy and didnt believe me when i told them that.

big rick - if only they weren't so damn expensive :/

and indeed.. very good for other other adventures

fredman - I completely agree but when you're rocking a square cut beard fit for the gods and aesthetics, some maintenance every now and then might be required

stokedpanda - I've probably had the healthiest hair ever when I stopped shampooing and conditioning it! I only do both maybe once a month

i wash my hair a lil more frequently cause i have a bit of a flaky scalp from time to time
like this week, i'm using the medicated shampoo a few times over cause i'm about to
get my hair cut, but i don't use it often.

as for the beard products, itchy/ dry face is worth spending $15 on.
i have been pretty into growing facial hair since i was in high school where i had myself
a full beard at 15 but got so much shit from it that i just kept my mutten chops

so growing a beard is an itchy fuckin process....
the first two weeks are hell, your face dries out, and it's just shit.
so beard oils are awesome and stop the itchy flaky face, keeps the beard nice and moist
without making everything slimy (unless you use too much), and when you can mix in
some beard balm into the equation, you're golden!

I love using my beard products thoroughly and they help will all of the problems that are
had when being awesome from growing a beard.

Some dandruff combating shampoo is actually worse(head and shoulders) for your scalp, rock the natural oil!
