I know that many of you have participated in Surfing Santas in previous years and, on behalf of George Trosset, we are hoping that this year will be the best year yet!

Per the title of this thread, there have been some great recent improvements to what started out as a small family annual gathering. The City of Cocoa Beach has officially come on board as the headline sponsor and the title of the event officially altered to "Surfin Santas of Cocoa Beach".

With the size and location of the previous venue, at the Trosset Beach House at 24th St., it has been difficult to accommodate the large turnout in previous years. The event will be moving to 1st Street in downtown Cocoa Beach on the sand. I don't have all of the details yet, but wanted to give fair notice to the local surf community of these changes (which will help immensely with parking and bathrooms facilities.)

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer. Mark your calendars for Christmas Eve. Bring your families and get started on your Christmas costumes now!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good surf!!!

It will be held from 8 a.m.-noon Christmas Eve at the end of Minutemen Causeway -
downtown cocoa beach @ coconuts

"The downtown site offers more parking for the expected participants and spectators."

is there more and "better" parking there?

"The city officials are cooperating with the event they say is good for the city and its residents."

good for the city?

i spose so
hmmm i wonder if cocoa beach and those parking areas
are going to charge $10 for parking

i would think lori wilson would be better for parking for both spectators and participants
but i spose thats another 'problem' with county park -
- what do i know
i will be dressed properly in green - or red and white with had & beard

This event was moved to Cocoa Beach because the Trossett family wanted to share their fun with as many people as possible. The Trossets and volunteers make no money on this. Yes, the city charges for parking, but there is also free parking nearby. the city is also waiving permit fees and providing fire and public safety support at no cost to the Surfin Santas. All proceeds go to benefit Grind for Life and the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum.

There is more "organized" parking available and
a larger crowd is expected this year.
