I have seen a few fighters making passes today... Anyone got any ideas on whats going on?

Been hearing them all afternoon over house.. Would guess training. Or an airshow in the state? I know they hop from base to base to get to shows.

...Right over my head.  $4.3 mill burned up in a few seconds....but it was pretty cool. I'd rather spend the money on that then on the study of bisexual sheep in northeast Argentenia. So I guess we have that goin' for us...which is nice.

Sounded like 18's. Didn't 't see them. Probably Marines.

They were f16's and yep - they are louder a bit than they used to be. Because of all the warfare over the past decade they've probably left them on war emergency power. Essentially it allows them to over-clock the engines which means they don't last as long but man do they TIER IT UP.

LagoonSurfer and dingpatch are both right. As of mid-day today, there were 5 F-18s and 4 F-16s either in the tarmac or in the pattern (+ a KC-135 was landing when I left the area). Tax dollars being wasted?

Ok, Dan will your tune change when we are under siege and laying down surrendering to the enemy?

What is your liberal agenda with that statement?

You have your Democrat president for 2 terms, what more do you want?

So Dan you are a member since 2003 and you blather with 2391 posts of liberal rubbish stating that fighter jets are a waste of tax payers money?

And you are allowed to vote?

Russian activity off our coast and in Cuba... Subs and ships.

Putin in Cuba a few days ago.... starting up Lourdes again.

My thoughts while surfing this afternoon were training and how that is a GOOD thing and just how good are those guys and are they as good as pilots of the past and how they would respond to enemy fire, top gun and all that.

The LAST thing on my mind was Dan's thoughts of tax dollars.

Dan, maybe it was an attempt at humor, but one could infer from your post that you are either advocating that we should not have a military, or that the military should not train.  Does anyone really think that either of those scenarios are viable options?   And clearly the latter would also be an unconscionable betrayal to the men and women who serve in the military. 

Actually, the noise of wasting of my tax dollars is heavy equipment on the beach spreading garbage fill in what is politically termed, "renourishment"...I hope to never hear that noise on the mid-reach!!
