Shark fishing for sport with big dead blue fish , chumin up the water all aroud the pier, catching one after another ,then cuttin'um loose at the pier.

Needless to say , being in the water with all the sharks ( assorted size and species) and unpredictable shifty overhead waves was no fun. I actually had a
" tight " line rub down my side with a shark of unknown size on the end of it.

The assholes on the pier were all laughing.

NO ONE in the water thought it was funny.

wow that sucks..... I used to carry a real small dive knife on an ankle strap a while back when fishermen were getting to be a problem. I have no problem with them fishing at the beach, I love fishing myself, but when they set themselves up right in the middle of a peak and start casting out it gets ridiculous. I had a weight hit my board one time and leave a big crack in it, needless to say that line got cut, and I paddled in and exchanged words with the owner of said weight..

That said though, I think if they were chumming and there were sharks of all shapes and sizes being caught in close proximity I would have left the water and fought that battle up on the pier. I know sharks are out there everytime we surf, but sticking around while they're being chummed and led into a frenzy would scare the crap outta me. Next time call the cops, like JBSURF said I'm pretty sure it's illegal to chum from piers.

South Florida kooks, both in and out of the water!!! haha

If they are chumming up the water with any sort of dead bloody object get out and find another spot! Sometimes you should listen to that uncomfortable feeling that is speaking to you. Ignoring it might get you bitten!

That's why they have police. I would have called and let them handle it.

We were getting into it with them Friday night too. Guess they were up to the same thing Sat. Hit the inlet instead with 30 of my closest friends.

Jeeze, someone tell me how illegal this is? If it's really getting to be constant, get out of the water and call the fuzz. What a terrible idea by the fisherman... Legal or not.

Sidenote.. red dog report is metioning feeding sharks at the inlet today, be careful if you try to find a wave at NSI

I just had this sent to me about the shark bite
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517145,00.html

As far as I know it is illegal to intentionally fish for sharks at public beaches with swimmers and surfers in the water.
