<A cl*****=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1020/991404252_83f263fa0c.jpg" target=blank>I am close to completing a home built hollow wooden Stand Up Paddle board of southern red cedar and epoxy. It is 12' x 30" x 5" and design to surf/tandem/dog/fish rather than long range paddling or racing. Trying to insert some photos...don't know if they are going to show.

I didn't know that the forum sconsidered applying resin to fibergl***** as an embedded profanity.

I was hoping for 30lbs.........it is more like 45.  You are right , the most difficult part wiil be from the van to the water.  It's volume will have enough float to make the extra 15lbs negligible relative to float.  Performance?  It will hold a line!  It is just a fun board...for standup surfing, tandem with my wife, put the dog on the front, fish off of it, etc.  Not going win a paddle race with it.  But for $100 in wood, $150 in glass and resin..........

It seems like one made with composites; divinicell (sp?) vaccum bagged over epoxy core - would be a lot lighter - and responsive.. also less dangerous as a 'loose cannon'..

If anyone can help me with how to display a picture in the body of the post, it would be appreciated.  The help instructions call for using an icon that does not appear for me.

There should be a little icon of a picture frame at the top, next to the word processing icons. When you click it, a window pops up. Paste the URL in there, and voila!

Don't get me wrong, I am liking it A LOT. Anything some individual takes the time and effort to make, is worthy of applause by me.
Have you seen this site yet? http://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php
Great SUP site. It is just getting started, and could use some good members on the forums. I posted your Cedar Board thread over there.

There should be that icon.....I saw what it looked like in the instructions....but it is not there on my window. I see no option to add icons or change the view of that window. Help says if the icon is not there the administrator may not have granted the rights. Don't know why some would be granted and others not...I haven't been bad or anything.

Don't use "quick reply" but "reply" and there will be a whole choice of icons.
The square is linking a pic!!

Hodad, thanks...but I see only a 'reply' option.  No quick reply, no reply at the top or bottom.  Just a 'reply option on the lower right of each post.  I didn't have the icon on my original post either.  I have all the word processing icons, indents, undo, serach, indert hyperlink....all that...just no picture insert icon

Do it manually.
Use brackets instead of parentheses

Would it be possible to use balsa instead of cedar for the planking since it has fiberglass on top? Or would it be too flimsy that way? BTW, what are the dimensions of the board?
