The forecast and models are looking better this morning, and might improve later on.  Still, Frances (2004) was a category 1, and was sufficient to knock out power for days to weeks (Vero had a lot of power lines running through back yards stuffed with untrimmed trees, and FPL was remarkably slow to deal with ordinary outages, outside of town).  I don't think it broke many windows, but lots of roofs failed.  One on my relatively well-maintained street, lots on the not-so-great street nearby.  Lots of soggy sofas were discarded.  The yard mess was amazing.  A neighbor's tree landed in my yard, all sorts of broken branches.  All the leaves were blown off the oaks.
