Photographer Eugene Tan has been doing dawn visits to Bondi for years, emailing fresh photos and comments on conditions most weekdays. Also on social media. The latest text:

SURFABLE. WAIST TO SHOULDERISH HIGH, BIT MIXED UP, SOME ODD NUGS.
Do you think Attorney General Pam Bondi is actually from Bondi? You know, like a nickname - Bondi Tony and his salubrious burgers kind of thing? Pam's golden locks look like she's done some time in the brine, getting shacked and sun-bleached. Probably not much surf time these days though, seeing she's knee-deep in Senate inquiries most mornings...

I digress.

It's Friday. Warm. The sun finally broke through and burned off that cloudy start. Bondi was on, but not on-on. Crowds everywhere - squads, yogis, swim clubs - all doing their thing.

The south swell's fading, but still coughing up the occasional gem (I'm calling gold over diamonds right now). There's a hint of NE swell too, so it's a bit of a mixed bag. Either way, a swim's on the cards - and if you can, sneak down later. Plenty of light these days for an after-work dunk.

Happy Halloween!

Adios,
Uge

As some of you may know the City of Satellite Beach is going to build a new fire station in about two years. The City is now deciding what to do with the soon to be old fire station. Their first thought is to tear it down and make the property into a retention pond with pavilions and a kayak launch site. I would like to see them keep the building and turn it into a part of the recreation department. They could use the office space for the new part time biologist, FIT space and or some other IRL group. The current bays where the fire trucks are parked could be used for kayak storage and other non motorized vessels like SUPs. If you have any interest in this issue you may want to attend the workshop on Wednesday September 22 at 5:00 pm in City Hall. This will be followed by the City Council meeting where the issue may be decided, so if you wish to speak this maybe the only opportunity you will have. Hate to see it taken to the dump vs re-purposed into something the City residents could use for years to come. If you wish to share this info with anyone you think might have interest feel free to cut and paste.
