After probably 15 years, one of my red feathers has bloomed and set fruit. Its a green variant, one I got from Dave a ways back. Has about 7 feet of woody trunk and is probably 15-16 feet to the top of the emergent frond. Has about ten dates that I have been checking almost daily so I can snatch them as soon as they turn red before the tree rats get them. Also have a large yellow variant (hookeri) with a bloom so may have some of those soon. And the purple kings are blooming with hundreds of dates/seeds, bright red cherries...

Awesome! My red feathers are at the point now that they are volunteering under the palm. If you leave the seeds be they volunteer by themselves.

Nice! Your yard must be in full jungle mode. Miss your plant sales. Cheers!

Kinda surprised that four months later this same batch of dates is still on the tree and still not turning red. First time its held them so Im thinking they may not be viable? Or maybe this is normal for C macrocarpa. Will find out sooner or later...

Turn red? I think they stay green. I'll check mine out soon.
