2 feet deep and 2 feet around sounds like pretty good advice. I'd water it some before so the dirt sticks together. But, I bet you could even dry root them and transplant them successfully.

Use Fertilome Root Stimulator from Sun Harbour. Works great on everything and if you use too much its doesn't appear to be an issue. I put it on everything as a tonic.
