Help! I have a large mango tree in my back yard that has not produced fruit in last few years. When it was younger it did prepuce fruit but as tree matured it stopped. Any ideas what can be done? I think its a Valencia Mango tree.

Staining, black , rot, powdery mild dew, age, pruning, over fertilization could effect it.
Perhaps it could be anthrcnose disease. Attacks the flowering panicles which produce fruit.Add copper and sulfur. ------------------------- Style is what you make it! Edited: 07/11/2019 at 02:13 PM by palerider |

Once mango get big they can stop producing. The roots eventually find a water and nutrient source. You should hack the fug the tree back. Valencia PRide is the fastest growing mango. It gets too big too quick. Hack it back. I recommend never letting a mango get taller than 15 feet. Hack Hack Hack.

Agreed on what cfldave said. From what I understand once they develop a bunch of wood their growth habits focus more on nutrient storage and vegetation growth than fruit production. If you search YouTube you will find that many of the mango farmers prefer more compact trees that don't have a dense canopy.

I am keeping all my trees about eight feet tall. I got the book "Grow a little fruit tree" for information. My sugar Apple produced about 25 fruit and both my little mango trees produced.
