Finally beat my old PB of 9.7lbs with this 10.5 crappy pic but tried to attach!!!

It was a hair under 30" and was tough to get in the net, so I have since bought a bigger one lol.

Been hunting for a big fish for long time, which can be frustrating because I usually get skunked.

I have found my bigger flounder are in very shallow water near very deep water, on higher tides, this was along the mayport jetty in Jacksonville up in the rocks, also got two five pounders after and the bit shut off as the tide switched.

Still some mullet heading south also should start seeing some pompano!

I got it two weeks ago right before the flounder pounder tournament where a 7.5lb won a couple grand! haha I got skunked yesterday thought it was going to be hot but struck out.

I would bet the jetties bridges and docks in your area are holding- also I get a LOT more bites in clean water, with "clean" being relative for our area of course, but if it is super silty/muddy I will move lol

yeah, I havent fished since we've finally gotten a break from the monsoon-esque rains we've been having. (there's been waves ) but the few times I did go were in salt-run, just to be closer to the inlet. still wasnt clean, but ALOT better than by my house, which looked like black coffee.

Flounder seriously suck. I can boat a 25 pound grouper from 175 feet of water, but can't manage a flounder that's sitting at my feet.

when I feel a bite, I try to lightly apply pressure "imagine just lifting their head" and lower it back down. If they bit the back half or grabbed the bait partially usually you will feel them thump/tap it again as they fully inhale it. Once they do that they usually have it and get tight and set the hook. If you just keep dragging they will often just clamp down on whatever piece of the biat they have often all the way to the boat. Also if you get a bite and they swim off quick with it, usually thats a sign of other fish in the area WORK THAT AREA HARD! Last week I had one break me off in the rocks, thought it was a toad fish, but caught it about 30 mins later with my leader and hook......strange fish indeed!

Ditto! I've literally never caught a flounder and have put in many hours trying to catch them. I once sat with a buddy at the inlet for prob 4 hours and watched him reel in four flounder to my ZERO. Then the next day he went with someone else and that guy standing on same rock I was casting from landed a ten pounder.. I just gave up after hearing that.

Nope, wasn't me. It's too damn hot and weird at Inlet for me to hit it up right now.

Snook are weird, Tarpon aren't there and the weeds are so hit and miss it's enough to make me want to jump in and drift out to sea.
