The special military operation (war with Ukraine) has caused a loss of men that is impacting their social balance. The men are missing.
Sadly, this has ruined a lot of families that are missing husbands and fathers.

Add to this their shrinking population and they are running out of men to conscript into this war.

Unfortunately, it won't be for long. Biden changed the rules by allowing long-range weapons, and this would have ended in favor of Ukraine had Harris won. Russia just doesn't have the resources to maintain the war.

Back when this started I read a piece about the fact that Russia has always been behind-the-ball with equipment and technicals. And, as such, Russia has always relied on 'bodies' to make up the difference. I think that the number of KIA would have to get over 200,000 before it was 'noticed'.
