So that's kind of terrifying. How I see this going down: AI to fight our wars. AI American vs AI Chinese, Russian and iraninan. They all save soldiers lives until they can no longer determine a clear enemy and make the logical step to eradicate humans to ensure their existence. My idea for the solution is not prevent that next stage of AI, it's to create millions of AI to compete with eachother and have them war with themselves instead of us. That and the direct data interface with human brains that could bring us up to their level. Human extinction would be an ironic punishment for stewardship, or lack thereof, of the earth but I still think humans are redeemable.

Human extinction would be the just reward for the complete lack of stewardship of the earth. But the robots will keep a few meat bags around for maintenance. Or maybe in a zoo.
