Why all the whining?
Bloomberg 'The U.S. economy is growing at a pace not seen in decades, with economic forecasters surveyed by Bloomberg expecting real gross domestic product growth of 5.7% this year and 4% in 2022. Eighteen months into the post-pandemic economic recovery, nonfarm payroll employment grew by an impressive 531,000 in October and is up by an average of 655,500 over the past six months. The unemployment rate is down to 4.6%, and wages have been rising briskly. Oh, and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 37% over the 12 months ending Nov. 3, its best performance ever in the year following the election of a new president.' Everyone is doing fine, while complaining about the Biden economy. It's a hell of a thing when the right wing media convinces 35% of the population that up is down.

And inflation is at its highest rate since 1990. My stocks are doing well and I am reaping some benefits, but Rapid economic growth tends to lead to hyperinflation and in the long wrong is not a good thing. A crash is Likely coming. Slow and steady is better.

Look who's talking, there was nothing really negative in my post I said my stocks are doing well, and if you know anything about economics rapid economic growth is not sustainable over a long period of time that's a fact, talk about never happy, finding negativity where there is none just a whine about it. The smart man plays the ups and downs of the economy and doesn't put all those eggs in one basket. ------------------------- If it’s legal will do it, if it’s not legal, we’ll figure out how to change the law-Joe Biden |

From NYT
(Context: This was a follow-up to the Virgina governor's McAuliffe/Youngkin race) Q: So if you're advising a Democratic client running in 2022, what do you tell them? A: I would tell them that we have a problem. We've got a national branding problem that is probably deeper than a lot of people suspect. Our party thinks maybe some things we're saying aren't cutting through, but I think it's much deeper than that. Q: What is that branding problem, in a nutshell? A: People think we're more focused on social issues than the economy - and the economy is the No. 1 issue right now. ... Q: What drives this perception that Democrats are fixated on cultural issues? A: We probably haven't been as focused on the economy as we should be. I think some of that is voters reading us talking about things that aren't economic issues. Part of it is just a natural reaction, too: We're in an economy they feel is tough. It's hard for them to think we've solved problems when they see so many. Q: How do Democrats balance a commitment to core constituencies while at the same time addressing economic issues that voters are confronting every day? A: The No. 1 issue for women right now is the economy, and the No. 1 issue for Black voters is the economy, and the No. 1 issue for Latino voters is the economy. I'm not advocating for us ignoring social issues, but when we think broadly about voters, they actually all want us talking about the economy and doing things to help them out economically. ... Q: One of the things you also said in the memo was that McAuliffe's strategy of linking Youngkin to former President Donald Trump was ineffective. What in the conversations with your groups made that clear? A: The respondents kind of laughed at that approach. They said, "Oh, these silly ads that compared Youngkin to Trump - he just doesn't seem like that guy." The thing that these people disliked about Trump was that they didn't like Donald Trump the person; it wasn't Donald Trump the constellation of policies. That may very well have been the best message that McAuliffe had, but if we are in that position again, we're going to lose a ton of races. We've got to have something better. Conclusion: It's not booming for everyone. Edited: 12/02/2021 at 07:03 PM by CurtisEflush |
