The goal of both political parties is to keep the cash flowing. I would say it's to hang on to power, but I don't think that's necessarily the case with respect to the Dems. They fund raise better as opposition. It's perfect for them, no accountability, and the threat of creeping fascism on the other side. But it's worse than that really, because the party is loyal to the party before the country, so either party will actively try to undermine anything that the other party tries do to improve things for the country at large. And because the two parties each represent a minority of citizens, we're stuck in a negative feedback loop that will most likely lead to steady decline of the material conditions for working people, or at worst, end in fascism.
