The military band just filed in and it was good to see them masked up in accordance with DoD directives.

I'm sure when they start playing they will take them off, but for their staging they are wearing them and the stage set up spaced the band members out farther than normal. Again, the DoD has issued directives to our troops mandating social distancing and mask wearing and it looks like they are abiding by that.

Good for them. At least our Military knows what the right thing to do is.

I was right.

Trump said he is establishing a "Garden of Heroes" to honor the greatest Americans to every live. Centerpiece in that garden is to be confederate 'hereos'. He said that the far left was using 'cancel culture' to teach kids to hate America. I guess he doesn't understand that if you love the confederacy you actual by default hate the United States. He complained that the far left was intimidating political dissenters which of course ignores the reaction you get from right wingers if you point out the actual historical context of the confederate statues they so revere. The kicked it that after ranting about the cancel culture boogie man (seriously, it if the statue humpers that cancel history by pretending that those statues are heroic and patriotic and by ignoring why they were installed) he went on to say So he is saying that if you oppose him you are not an American. This is the most blatant 'othering' I have ever heard come from the mouth of an American president. This is aimed at being intimidating, the very thing he was complaining about. And no, we don't want to take your history from you. We want you to learn your history. I bet none of Trump's followers has ever read the various confederate declarations of secession.
