"I have a little conflict of interest 'cause I have a major, major building in Istanbul," Trump told Bannon during a Breitbart radio show. "It's a tremendously successful job. It's called Trump Towers - two towers, instead of one, not the usual one, it's two."

When Trump ran for office, he said he would turn over interests like this to his children, merely a symbolic gesture, but he hasn't even done that.

In May 2017, when Erdogan visited Washington, D.C., for a White House visit, Turkish agents violently attacked protesters outside the Turkish ambassador's residence - shoving past local police officers to do so. Video showed Erdogan calmly watching the attack from his car. Although the House of Representatives, then under GOP control, voted 397-0 to condemn the attacks, Trump refused to do so. A few months later, Trump praised Erdogan, describing him as "a very good friend" and saying he gets "very high marks" for the way he runs Turkey.

There have been several other instances of Trump caving to Erdogan, including his Muslim ban excluding Turkey.

Wow...you're a serious idiot!

Trump still OWNS the towers.

Just because the day to day running of them has been turned over in NO WAY removes his ownership!

Why exactly cant your febil brain grasp that fact?

Well what do you know about that? Now that I am in possession of that useless irrelevancy, I think I shall return to the thread about Mayor Butt.

Time for cold Turkey.

It may not matter to our magabots, but trump clearly puts his business and personal interests before the interests of the United States, so he's a miserable failure as a chief executive.

Yeah, Trump does still maintain an interest in the Trump Towers in Turkey, which is exactly why he is implementing shit policy, and that's exactly why the US Constitution forbids a president from accepting foreign bribes. Thanks for playing, FK.

Trump doesn't own those towers, nor does his Trust. The owner of the towers licences the name. What does Trump need to do keep those license checks rolling in?

Most likely nothing. There is usually a long term contract (10-20 years) that provides for payments regardless of what name is on the building. That's how such things work. Now, it isn't just a one way street here. The owner of the hotel has a strong interest in keeping it a Trump building. That carries a lot more cachet than, say, Kemal's Fancy Huts and Camel Stables.
Back in 2016 Erdogan wanted the name off the towers because of Trump's Muslim rhetoric in the campaign. Then the travel ban happened. But Turkey got an exemption and the buildings are still licensing the name. Funny that.
The article doesn't even address the travel ban (yep, I have a WSJ subscription and read the entire article). The travel ban was designed to target countries who were exporting terrorists. Turkey wasn't such a country. Moreover, it was not exempted. It was never named as one of the countries. You have lied to your fellow forumers.

Yeah, entirely coincidental that the trumped-up Muslim ban only applied to nations where the Wizard doesn't have any financial interests.

Hah, yeah right? Erdogan is pissed about candidate Trump rhetoric to the point that he wants to unname the building. Then Turkey doesn't get banned. Trump is still collecting royalties.

"Kemal's Fancy Huts and Camel Stables" would certainly be my first choice between that and a "Trump Tower".

Hell, I'd stay at the Overlook Hotel in Dec. before setting foot in one of those trump dumps.

Erdogan certainly thought it could be unnamed.

I didn't write that it did now did I?

Never named as? That sure looks like an exemption. Just what made Erdogan change his tune about Trump I wonder?

Great Britain wasn't on the list either. So you believe that it too was "exempted" due to Trump having property there? Don't know why Erdogan changed his mind. But it wasn't because of anything Trump did this week.

No. Trump's properties tend not to be in shithole countries where no one has money and which aren't exactly destinations for the jet set. Terrorists, however, do tend to be in such countries.
