hahaha wait so you admit there is global warming and agree with the article, "But the level of CO2 has been drastically altered by human activity." And you also think this is going to save "us"!!!!!! It doesnt matter if we dont have an ice age for another 800,000,000 years if we cant breathe in 50.... well I'll be, you are dumber than I gave you credit for broseph ------------------------- I troll 2L.com to be a better person in real life |

If we could force republicans and Trump - whatever he is - to shut their mouths for a few days, the atmospheric CO2 would level out for a few years.
Alas, I realize even that is a pipe dream and we are doomed to the wrath of Mother Nature. ------------------------- I was right. |

The notion that human activity, centuries or thousands of years ago, staved off an impending ice age, is not new. The model supporting the notion is. Plows, Plague, and Petroleum: How Humans Took Control of Climate. William Ruddiman, 2006. Princeton. |

Tpap is old and irrelevant. Just a bitter, lonely old man who is channeling Tahoe What a crappy life, trapped in a concrete tower pushing papers back and forth all day on the wrong side of the peninsula. Boring. ------------------------- Get barreled, Jimmy! |

I think we should keep bumping this one up to the top.

The disturbing thing about all this is that it is more than just "likely" that "global warming" has delayed the next "Ice Age". Man-made or not, the warming is happening. Slower or faster, depending on who you ask. We'll soon lose a lot of currently "coastal" areas and cities, and such. But, in the end, we will probably survive it all.
The possible alternate "cooling" would take a much larger toll on "civilization". Imagine if territory north of Memphis, TN was "uninhabitable"? And Europe would possibly be a winter "wasteland". On the bright side, , , , it would probably result in the "greening" of the Sahara! ------------------------- Dora Hates You Edited: 01/19/2016 at 08:10 PM by dingpatch |

I know that there is a lot of "ya, ya, sure, sure, , , ," about all of this but ice cores show that there can be "Very Dramatic" changes within periods as short as 75 years.

Another thing to consider, , , , so, with "warming" we could see sea level rise by, let's say 15 feet, within the next 100 years (let's exclude all the "faster vs. slower" and "more vs. less" arguments for now). Now, with "cooling", how fast/slow/more/less would the sea level lower? I'm sure that unless it was a "The Day After Tomorrow" type of change, that the sea's "lowering", due to ice/snow pack build-up, would be slower than what we currently believe we'll see in it's rising? But, anyway, , , ,. So, what would be the result if the mean basin level of the Mississippi River becomes 15 feet above what it is now? Would it become an un-navigable rapids, carving a new "grand" canyon? Miami's current "beach front" being 1000 feet from the "shore"?
Not an opinion, just a point of interesting discussion and fact-finding. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |
