"Global temperatures could be less sensitive to changing atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) levels than previously thought, a study suggests."

Don't see this story in the US corporate media yet...

It is on infowars though...

Yep, they are forever finding errors in their models. Fact is, no one knows what's going to happen.

I'm going to wait for the corporate media to tell me what to think.

Well Alex Jones thinks that chemtrails, HAARP, and NEXRAD are causing warming and weather disturbances.  Warming and severe weather is entirely caused by man, just not by accident via pollution.  Yep, weather is being used as a weapon.  So I'm not suprised that this story is on inforwars or that nobody there seems to have bothered to read the actual orginal article published in the journal Science.

As for the corporate media, BBC is pretty mainstream.  I just did a google search and see that Daily Kos featured this article from the BBC two days ago.  I thought Daily Kos and the journal Science were part of the evil illuminati plan for total control via fake climate change but that's where this story orginates.  Strange you act like this is being buried.  It's just not news worthy for the corporate media whores because it isn't scary enough for their retarded sensationalism.

Oh and have to highlight a comment from the inforwars posting:

The specific heat capacity of CO2 is less than that of AIR in general. So, naturally, it will have a cooling effect the more there is. Chemistry/Physics 101 – simple principle of dilution – there is not magical property in CO2 nor is it extremely reactive.

Specific Heat Capacities:

Air = 1.01
CO2 (0.038% of air) = 0.84
H2O Vapor (about 1% of air) = 1.93
Nitrogen (78% of air) = 1.04
Oxygen (20% of air) = 0.92

Is everybody over there this pig ignorant?

Climate sensitivity is the big one.
Lots of new research going on to try and pin down the current uncertainty.
These new numbers are well within the current range of uncertainty in the IPCC concencus, this is just suggesting that the lower end of that range might be more supportable.

If confirmed, this could be good news, we may have more room to fix this mess before it gets real bad.

Rather than rely on the right wing MSM, why not ask real scientists?

So we have a new piece of data to consider for a potential downward calibration of the projected man-made warming trend.

That's not sensational click-generating news.

The corporate media needs more than that to sell ratings, something more along the lines of a pimp/prostitute investigative team, traveling the world, seducing unsuspecting geeks, ultimately revealing a contrived international email conspiracy.

Daily Kos?

Wasn't that guy a CIA intern along with Anderson Cooper?

Hey scombrid, you forgot to mention that Alex Jones believed the govt.lied about Iraq's wmds before the invasion and has been warning about the spread of fascism and thought control for over a decade.

He also covered Obamas trip to the Bilderberger meeting and has documented the bohemian club's bizarre rituals devoted to Molech.

Like the guys who proposed "building a strategic alliance with goldmine sacks"?

Fix this mess? We can't even solve the issue of nuclear waste and you think we can just fix the climate?

Really. How. By commodifying the atmosphere to allow for bankers to create yet another casino game?

This is the sixth hit on a google search of the string ""Global temperatures could be less sensitive to changing atmospheric carbon dioxide""

http://chemtrailsnorthnz.wordpress.com/

Interesting folks to be joining forces with the likes of the Heartland Institute and the Koch Brothers.

Kind of makes me wonder if that particular group of super wealthy aren't stoking the paranoia for a bit of a diversion.

So on the one hand we've got monied interests that want to coopt science to enrich themselves through trading schemes.  On the other hand we've got the fuel industry that is protecting itself.  In between is real science.  On the fringe are the paranoid conspiracy theorists screaming loudly about shit that isn't even real.

Uncertainty = don't worry about it.

As I have said a million times, there is far more carbon in the atmosphere now than in any time in the last 400K years.
That IS something to worry about.

Anything that gets published in Science, Nature or PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences) gets plenty of attention and scrutiny.  Post-publication scrutiny tends to catch problems (or occasional fraud) that gets through the review processes.

What he said.

Of course, the armchair scientists on here have never read a journal article.

Doubling the concentration of CO2 in such a short period of time is going to have consequences beyond climate change or sea level rise.

We are altering the chemistry of our niche.

I assume my fellow surfers understand that we owe our existence to plankton and all the other calcareous critters that share our seas?

???

What's your point... You don't like google's algorithms?

Or maybe this story isn't getting much coverage from corporate media like I said?

Thank god for scombrid the thought patrol warrior sent to save mankind from bad paradigms.

Who funded this study published in sciencemag?

Bueller?

Should we expect the corporate media to cover something that isn't sensational?

The Science article didn't overturn the prevailing science on climate.  It seems that having 400+ ppm is still a problem even if temperature is not "worst case scenario" senstive.
