The family went to go see Wicked in the theater last night. Overall I think it was a pretty good film. A lot of music, dancing, cinematography, acting, eye candy, satire/comedy, it is very entertaining and great film. The story follows the Broadway Show and is Part 1 of a two part film. The movie is long (almost 3 hours so skip the previews) but never is boring. I'd say if you liked the broadway show you will love the movie. If you aren't a fan of broadway tunes and pop divas you probably won't like it. If not familiar with the Wicked storyline it's a spin off of The iconic film The Wizard of Oz and the Broadway show I've seen the show in New York and was overcome by it when it first came out. How they twisted the original Wizard of Oz story up was pretty incredible. Are you a Wizard of Oz purist? You probably won't like Wicked, or maybe you would. I can't wait for Part 2 in 2025. Let me know if you have seen Wicked The Movie Part 1.

The Wizard of Oz movie was an elaborate reworking of the original children's novel. The author wrote a bunch of sequels (one, TikTok, turned into a not very successful Disney film), but the first was easily the best.
I got to visit NYC before covid. Costs of putting on shows on and near Broadway are so high that it's worth checking out live theater in cheaper cities (fares to Washington tend to be pretty good) or find a bargain fare to London.

Ariana Grande busted out a tune on SNL, and it was captivating. I want to find it in Imax for the sound system.

Shout out to Titusville Playhouse for good relatively local live musical theater.

The Theater Guild in Vero Beach puts on good musical productions, including some pretty ambitious ones. If you can afford Riverside Theatre's productions and don't mind that shows are chosen to appeal to wealthy retirees, they are very high quality. I've seen lots of theater in larger cities.
