past Adventurists' adventures have been permanently disfigured, seriously disabled and even lost their life.

Sounds like a good time! I'd love to do it.

I'm doing an ironbutt in June; 1,000 miles in <24 hours (on a motorcycle).

We could get 3rd in on this too. Sounds like a crazy good time. I'm starting to consider 23. I've never seen Scotland. This would let you see a lot of Scotland.

May and June; it will only rain on you 33% of the time.

I got a kick out of this part:

Afternoon Tea
Is served like a god damn religious obligation at 4pm inside Camp Monkey. Don't fuck with it.

The rain, copious amounts of scotch, wind and mud probably all make for serious memories. What better way to really see a place?

At 54? In a nice hotel with hot water, a nice local pub and a round at St Andrew's.

Maybe I'm nostalgic for youth. I'm considering this.

Indian Motorcycle is throwing a big party the next day. Then we're doing 'Tail of the Dragon' and another cool ride, but I forget the name. This year they've opened it up to all bikes, if anybody is interested in earning the patch pm me.

Best of luck on your ride! I got mine back in 2016. It was tough, and a test of one's endurance. Check the Iron Butt Association site for hints and tricks to guide you on your ride. DOCUMENT everything that you'll need for the ride. Follow the guidelines and look at the IBA application. Get a witness signature at the beginning and at the end. I didn't have a GPS route to give them, so I printed everything out and annotated every stop with mileage and the time of each. Music (helmet speakers) really helped me, as well as snacks in my tank bag.

I did 1100 miles in 21 hours, going through 7 states. 50% back roads, 50% highways. I also took a 30 minute nap at one of my stops. Most of all, Ride Safe!

Yep, it is the Cherahola Skyway.

I'm taking the following week off to go exploring too. Don't get to vacation on the bike very often and no Mrs. worksux bitching about sore ass.

If I go to Scotland, you bet your ass I'm getting in a round at St. Andrews before I leave.

My buddy went. He said the wind was always howling, the bunkers are more wells and he decided to quit counting his strokes after it became clear he might get to 200. Hes not bad but damn.

I played a couple courses in Ireland in similar conditions, relentless howling winds and freezing ass rain. They were brutal beatdowns and humbling to say the least. Both my uncle and cousin kept it in single digits over par which made it even more humiliating.

A beating from the hallowed St. Andrews would be an honor to take.

No rain checks are offered. That says it all right there.
