That is really cool, a great bit of insight into what our world was like and how important a radio was to communicate.
My family has a couple of vintage console type radios from the 30's and 40's (that work!) and can only imagine what it was like to have the family sit around the radio listening to news and shows. SeriusXM has a classic radio channel and it is fun to listen to the old shows. Also, my Dad had a fantastic short wave radio and as kids we would listen to stations from all around the world, he was hip on the numbers stations, too. But with this being D-Day...this is pretty heavy. I wonder if they have the announcement of pearl harbor? That would bookend this post. Hmmm..have to look. ------------------------- If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD WAS MUSIC - KV |
