Just a few observations going through the scoreboard.

Thursday games:

Ohio State 45 Minnesota 31, I got to watch a little bit of the 4th. Ohio State skill players on defense took over the game in the 4th. Minnesota has been tough lately, so don't think this will hurt the buckeyes rankings winning a first game conference one. Currently #4 in AP.

Coastal Carolina 52 The Citadel 14
. Coastal Carolina currently sitting at #22. I haven't really watched them so don't know what they are all about. Maybe LBLARRY can dismiss them as WHO HAVE THEY PLAYED team. But, there they are in the top 25. Agreed, The Citadel? Didn't even know they had a football team. They play football in Charleston? Who know.

Utah 40 weber state 17. Utah, pac12 sitting just inside top 25. Don't know anything about them other than they are usually pretty good and Urban Meyer is an ex-coach. Salt Lake City doesn't seem to me to be a football town, but, obviously my perception is wrong. BYU nearby.

Arizona State 41 Southern Utah 14. A-State #25. That's all I got.

UCF 36 Boise State 31. Hard fought game. UCF overcomes 21 point behind. Tough gritty game. Will be interesting where both these schools do the rest of the year. Big 12 invitation for UCF this week is reported. Attended game, major rain delay, watched ending on Tv.

NC State 45 USF 0. The bulls look to be a embarrassment again. What a bad time to suck with all the conference realignment taking place. UCF leaving USF in the dustbins of history. Buh Bye Bulls. Is the wolfpack that good or are the bulls that bad? Prob a combo of both.

Appalachian State 22 ECU 19. Good win for Appy State. ECU has been struggling the past few years but I was hoping for improvement to UCF conference mates. Oh well.

UC Davis 19 Tulsa 17. UCF always struggles with Tulsa and loses to them. UC Davis who? That is a bad loss I think for Tulsa.

Tennessee 38 Bowling Green 6. Coach Heupel era begins with a win. Neyland stadium looked sold out in a sea of orange. watched a little bit. Good first win but heard grumblings that Heupel's offense was one dimensional. Imagine that. UCF fans are glad for the coach swap. We wish him well at the Vols but...again, probably going the way of Scott Frost...downward spiral.

FIU 48 Long Island U 10 I think FIU was winless last year. Just mention due to florida team. Long Island U who?

FRIDAY

North Carolina 10 VaTech 17 NC was ranked preseason #10 They looked horrible. Watched a little bit. 'heisman contender' qb howell threw 3 interceptions. I don't know why they called this an upset. Vatech looked like the better team. Home crowd advantage as well.

Charlotte 31 Duke 28. They should throw Duke out of the ACC for this loss.

Mich-state 38 Northwestern 21. 1-0 in Big ten conference for the spartans.

Saturday

Bama 44 Miami 13. I watched the early part of this game until it was obvious Bama was playing a high school team. Holy Defense batman. Bama rightfully #1. Why was Miami ranked #14? Get them out of the top 25. they sucked and showed no life at a home game at that.

Oklahoma 40 Tulane 35 I watched this game. Oklahoma sitting at #2 needs to drop down some. Their defense is not there. Tulane should have won that game. They would have won if they could execute their offense better. Tulane Qb got all kind of banged up but was a warrior and had Tulane in position for a major upset. Went down to the final two minutes.

Georgia 10 Clemson 3 Lee Corso correctly picked the dawgs to win. Super defensive struggle. Watched most of it. Only TD scored was from a Georgia Pick 6. Clemson Defense is good also. Exciting game for such a borefest defensive game. But guess what Defense wins championships. Bama Georgia match up will be interesting. Clemson probably will go on and win the ACC. But, who knows. First game jitters maybe? Room for improvement for both teams on offense. Will be interesting to see how far Clemson drops in rankings. Probably not too far due stopping Georgia from offensive Tds.

Texas A&M 41 Kent State 10 . Just teh score. TAMU #6 currently.

Iowa State 16 Northern Iowa 10 Iowa State #7

Cincinnati 49 Miami 14 Watched highlights. Cinci Qb Desmond Ritter. 4 Tds. looking pretty good. Sitting at #8. What do the pollsters do with Cinci if they keep winning. Can the get into the top 4? Got some tough games coming up. Notre Dame, Indiana, UCF.

Oregon 31 Fresno State 24 Oregon #11. I was watching this on the ticker. Looked like a close game to the end.

Penn State 16 Wisconsin 10. Big win for Penn State. Away game for them and beat #12 Wisky. Watched a little bit of the beginning. but, not into the two teams. Penn state 1-0 in the Big Ten.

Florida 35 FAU 14 Gators #13. Didn't watch but good to see FAU score a couple. Anyone watch? How do the gators look?

USC 30 San Jose State 7. The Trojans are currently #15 Looked like a close game until the 4th.

UCLA 38 LSU 27. Big win for the Pac12. LSU was #16. Shocking outcome, I think. UCLA is 2-0.

Indiana 6 Iowa 34. Indiana was #17 Iowa #18. Big Ten matchup.

Montana 13 Washington 7 embarrassing loss for Pac12. Washy was #20. Buh Bye from the rankings.

Texas 38 Louisiana 18. La was #23 Texas #21. Didn't pay attention. but, good win for the longhorns.

Kentucky 45 UL monroe 10

Michigan 47 Western Michigan 14 reportedly Harbaugh has finally found a Qb.

Maryland 30 West Virginia 24 I watched most of this game. Entertaining one. Close to the end. Both teams have a lot of talent.

Mississippi State 35 Latech 34 Is a SEC school allowed to have a game this close to a LaTech team?

Auburn 60 Akron 10 Coach Harsin era begins with a blow out win. Bo Nix looked pretty good. Just watched the highlights.

Texas Tech 38 Houston 21 I watched this game. Houston Cougars were playing way above themselves and looked like they were going to beat Big 12 Texas Tech. But, 4th quarter the better team won.

Northern Illinois 22 Georgia Tech 21 oopsie GaTech. Not suppose to lose this game.

East Tennessee 23 Vanderbilt 3 The SEC needs to kick Vandy out of the conference and replace with UCF.

BYU 24 Arizona 16. BYU continues to surprise winning games they are not suppose to. Welcome to the Big 12 BYU !!!

Utah State 26 Washington State 23. wassup with all these Utah teams winning games they are not suppose to?!? embarrassing to the pac12.

I didn't cover all the games, too many of them.

Notre Dame AT FSU.... SUNDAY NIGHT

Who gets the start at Qb for FSU? Pulling for UCF transfer McKenzie Milton. Can they knock of Notre dame? Win one for the Gipper Mckenzie! Go NOLES!

Louisville vs Ole Miss Monday night. . UCF travels to Loserville in a couple weeks for a game, thus, I hope the cards beat SEC Ole Miss.

"Florida 35 FAU 14 Gators #13. Didn't watch but good to see FAU score a couple. Anyone watch? How do the gators look?" - Closer than the score indicated. I (rightly) predicted Emory Jones is not a major talent QB. Did not know anything about Anthony Richardson, but, he is a stud. Hate to see a guy who paid his dues with class flame out, but, look for a change at QB. Richardson is the real deal, he looks like he is 25 and acts it, too. My Gators are looking like an 8-3 team. Mullen is limited.

Thanks for the gator write up. I wanted to watch but the other two games were interesting. Does FAU with Coach Willie Taggart show anything? They are probably going to move into the American Conference when UCF leaves to the Big 12. I hope Gators can improve. I am a gator fan as well. College football needs a great Gator team in it. With Texas and Oklahoma coming into the SEC it's gonna be an arm's race for that conference.

Yeah for football season starting up! NFL next week I think, maybe in two weeks. haven't zeroed in on that yet.

Tonights FSU Notre Dame Game should be really interesting. Methinks Notre Dame will steam roll the noles, but hoping for the opposite. Who likes the fighting irish?

One of my favorite memories is when USC (along with UF, my favorite team as a youth) came back from something 28-0 at halftime to crush the Irish something like 49-28. AD ran the 2nd half kickoff back for a TD and they were off. He would run it to the 2 and Sam Bam Cunningham would blow it over for the TD. I LOVED IT! I hated the Irish; still do. As Dan Jenkins said about UF - "

Ooops, hit return to soon. To finish - "The arrogance of Notre Dame and the tradition of Wake Forest." It was true of all three programs back then.

McKenzie Milton gets inserted in the 4th quarter and makes a come back for FSU to get them into Overtime. FSU field goal kicker missed, Notre Dame kicker made his to win.

Makes me wonder why McKenzie wasn't playing the whole game.

I felt like I was watching that "Count Me In" drummer documentary all over again, except this time I was waiting for McKenzie Milton instead of Neil Peart.

JT is clearly quicker on his feet than KZ, and also has a height advantage, but is slower to find receivers and unleash the football, especially with precision.

JT panics quicker under pressure, and there was a lot of that due to mismatches on the line. I could see that a healthy KZ would have a better chance, but just before the substitution, I was actually hoping it wouldn't happen. I didn't want to see him get thrown to the wolves, and then boom, he is. I was smiling ear-to-ear after that first completion.

Notre Dame should have put the game away much earlier, but got way too conservative, especially on defense, near the end.

FSU hosts Jacksonville State next week, and that should be a pretty easy win. I thought they might be saving KZ for some late time when they're running away with that one. No matter who starts next week, both QBs should get some playing time, and that might help cement FSU's QB choice for the rest of the season. Or, they might find a way to make a two-QB system work like Bowden did in the late 70's.

This is rhetorical, but if McKenzie Milton played the whole game FSU would have won. He has the "It" factor. Don't forget he was undefeated 2017 and 2018 as a QB at UCF. Didn't lose in two years before his leg injury.

He needs to be named the starter NOW for FSU. I watched that entire game last night and was getting pissed he wasn't in the game. But when he went in you see how miraculously he got FSU back in the game. He wasn't perfect, but better than the other qb.

Lousiville vs Ole Miss Monday night.

Looks like Emory is not the guy. He threw two pointless interceptions and ran the wrong play on the goal line costing them the goal. The back up is oddly reminiscent of Frank's and trask.

FSU did far better against ND than I thought they would. They have potential.

UCLA looked pretty good. Wisconsin did not. North Carolina did not look good at all. Its hard to tell with Miami because Bama could make anyone look bad. Florida a top ten team? Not for long, Georgia and Bama end that.

Interesting to see the love Cincy and Coastal Carolina are getting for not being in Power-5 conferences. Not surprising to see ND move up two spots after barely squeaking by a still-unrated FSU team... Getting their votes on tradition again, I guess...

In my opinion, and it's only that:

Miami should have dropped from the top 25. They showed no life. Bama of course the best but FSU showed life. They should replace Miami in that spot.

Coastal Carolina, should not have moved up 5 spots for beating the Citadel. I think people are just going on positive press. My dear gawd, they lost to Liberty in their bowl game last year. The Citadel? It was South Florida's only win last year. Yes, they are that bad.

I'd drop Oklahoma down near the bottom. Tulane is pretty good this year and have improved but if that game was played in New Orleans were it was initially planned, methinks they would have lost. Plus, the refs really gave that game to Oklahoma. Tulane should have won that in the final two minutes. I watched that game and the sooners did not look like a top ten team.

Notre Dame, the same. Maybe hovering around #25. Not impressed.

North Carolina. No way should they be top 25. Did you watch that? VaTech put them in their place.

Wisonsin with that one less to Penn State at home, eh, forgiveable. Auburn travels to Penn State, that will be interesting.

Clemson, zero offense output, not top ten. Same with Georgia. Both impressive teams historically, but no offensive Td the entire game. Yawn.

UCF should be around #25. Boise not even receiving votes. But watch them climb back up thru the season. I thought they looked pretty good, just ran into a buzz saw in the 2nd half.

BYU, should be higher also.

FSU should be near #25 as well.

Who here thinks Coastal Carolina can beat these teams that are below them?

UCLA, skip, or is it chip Kelly head coach. Watch out. 2-0. Beating LSU? wowsa.

Cinci blew out Miami of Ohio. Glad they are in the top ten so UCF can snatch the pebble from their hands...but, don't know if they are top ten worthy. If they beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame...watch out...

Looking at the AP Poll which is probably a little lest subjective than the Coach's poll:

Cinci at #7.

Oregon struggled in their game. #12 is suspect.

Coastal Carolina #17. Really? Come on. Get real.

Ole Miss looked really good last night. #20.

Auburn #25.

UCF just on the outside at #28.

Yeah for football season. NFL starts in two days.

^^^^^^^^ lol .... for someone that just recently posted that only after 4 or 5 games are played, can you actually evaluate ranking and nothing before that matters ..... you damn sure send a lotta time evaluating and DAMN sure think it matters.

But keep it up it is comedy gold,
