State officials have stopped releasing the list of coronavirus deaths being compiled by Florida's medical examiners, which has at times shown a higher death toll than the state's published count. ........................Discuss,

This is the ploy by the trumpists. They say people have the right to their own opinions and they cannot deprive them of their liberty. The reality is that these same people have deprived the people of the facts so that they come to this conclusion only. If they knew all the facts, they might reconsider. They have seen to attack the press so that alternate sources of information and facts are derided and dismissed as biased, fake and untrue.

We stayed 1,000 infections behind California for a month, then our numbers leveled off while theirs continued to rise. Now there is a gap of about 10,000. That we are hiding the numbers doesn't surprise me at all.

Actually, it's now more than 17,000.

California 52,197 686,803
Pennsylvania 48,305 235,376
Michigan 43,207 201,709
Florida 35,463 416,012

Boris Johnson is now making clear that was he nearly a goner.

Will he learn from this? It ain't the flu, is it.

Parliament had the death plan on the table.

It ain't the flu.

Let's hope heard immunity happens sooner and not later.

That is going to take an effective vaccine I'm afraid. Latest estimate I've seen on what it would take for herd immunity with this virus is around 80%. So either an effective and widely adopted vaccine or a massive burn through of the population. Reality is probably going to be a moderately effective vaccine and a moderate burn through with the 'new normal'

Which flu? There are four types of influenza viruses: A, B, C and D. None of them are like Covid-19 at all.

Scroll down to daily deaths. Yeah, new cases looks bad but I have heard some people complain that it is due to increased testing.

Deaths is clearly irrespective of testing. You could make a very weak argument they are trending down in USA, but not if you are intellectually honest I think. In a couple more weeks we might see if there is a trend. We might also see a reverse of any such trend due to protests, non-adherence and premature openings.

Report on Sweden's approach. Upshot? The only solution you could call pretty darn successful is industrial strength test-and-isolate-and-trace. Only a few nations were able to pull that off.
