New job, choice of Bronze/Silver/Gold equivalents from Aetna or Cigna.

Premiums and estimated total expenses identical for both plans. (HDHP + HSA)

Same coverage so far for all the docs and facilities I'm interested in.

Covering self, spouse, 2 kids.

Anyone got recommendations/reviews/horror stories on either?

I've had Cigna, United, BC/BS, and a few others in the past, but never Aetna.

Thanks in advance.

Why not call your current or favorite HCPs? See who they participate with and if they're in network..that could be the determining factor.

Including Derms that most of us surfers pay regular visits to

Looks like I've got about 95% coverage of the docs my family needs with either one. Thanks for the reminder about my derm, I forgot to check that one!

I saw a ranking that showed Cigna was least likely to deny a claim, but it was a 6-7 year old report.

The gist of what I saw was that Cigna had more international coverage, but Aetna has more domestically.

Aetna was actually bought by CVS, so I guess that's where I'd have to get all Rx filled.

Cigna merged or partnered with Express Scripts to compete.

My wife is an insurance expert and I just asked between the two, she said Cigna.

Thanks Dave; did she say anything about why, or if it was Cigna by a large margin?

I have Cigna and no complaints. I've only been turned down one time for an MRI and that was because my PC didn't send over the paperwork. They got me in 2 days later.
