I've returned to a childhood hobby, scale model building. Tamiya makes some incredible kits, and Revell of Germany is still real good.

Next up is a 1:72 scale type IX-C U-Boat, like the U-128 that sank the Cities Service Empire off Cape Canaveral in 1942

Excellent. I did a Sunbeam Tiger before this hit. Nothing right now. But I have the patience to do a decent job now.

When I was a kid I mostly slapped them together, enjoyed them, and eventually blew them up with fire crackers. Now I'm taking my time and learning to detail and paint with an airbrush. So far the kits seem to be better fit and detail than I remembered.

Yup, I have a Paasche airbrush (tho I still suck with it) and a lot of bottles of paint. And most importantly a jewelers visor.

The glue is hella better.

You should try balsa and monokote or tissue. They look great and they can actually fly too.

Those are fun. Mostly laser cut now for easy build. With nano electric r/c you can even fly them around. Or, as in my case, eventually fly them into a tree.

Those RC planes look fun, is it expensive to get in at the entry level?

To learn to fly in general, not anymore. You can find nice electric foamy all in one kits and be flying in a day. I'd recommend getting a trainer app for your pc or game system so you are not crashing more than needed. Pusher prop planes are great for learning.

Something like this would be good to learn on.

If you have a lot of space:

If you have limited space:

Lots of options a bit cheaper from china but transmitters wont be able to be used with a lot of planes. IF you ever want to get something, send me a link and I'll let you know if it is worth it. Been flying all kinds of RC craft for years, Fixed wint, single rotor helis and quads/drones.

Phoenix trainer recommended here. Not sure what the lowest end spektrum, etc. tx you can get that works with it. Landing is the hard part and the trainer really helps with that because you have to use all four controls at once to do it (with a four channel plane).

Phoenix is great. It's what I used to use. I think it is free now.

Not sure how secure this guy's donwloads are. But should be legit.

If you're not stuck on planes, little drones are the way to go. Can fly them in the house. So many great cheap options to get flying micro quads. Can also do fpv, like you're actually a half ass pilot. ??

Thanks, I'm down for anything that keeps my mind off the isolation.

All this model talk makes me wish I still had this mask I needed because I have a CA glue allergy. WTF did I put it?? This was 15 years ago.
