I'm trying to extract specific satellite data from a raster layer using sample points and neither of my raster layers are showing up when I do an 'extract by mask'. It will let me do 1 tif image at a time, but not the entire folder.

Any help will earn you a pitcher of beerz or a bottle of hooch of your choosing....

GIS novice here...
I'm confused how are you extracting by mask using point data?
Don't you need a shape or polygon of some sort?

I've managed to get through this part and bulling my way through the rest.

The points were sample locations on lake O (which was my shape file). the images were satellite tif's that I needed to isolate the Lake O area, so that I could extract surface reflectance (of three bands) in order to extrapolate Chlorophyll-a data. My final test will be to see how well I did versus ground data.

It's taken me two straight days of cursing and throwing tantrums, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....

Maybe you could combine all the tif images into one file.
ESRI combining raster files

Then try the extract by mask wizard using the combined tif file you created.

There were 3 folders with 100's of images in each. One must learn extreme patience and NOT keep hitting buttons when working with a very finicky program and large volumes of data. My first map was labeled LakeO.mxd by the time I finished it was LakeOXII...

Anyway thanks for the input. I was up until 0330, but managed to get through it all. I ran 4 statistical models on all 3 bands and as I think was the point of the project each bandwidth was better suited to a particular model for chlorophyll.

I was really stoked at the beginning to learn how to do this, about half way through I never wanted to see the shit again and now that I did it, I want to get more proficient at it.

Scoops if we get off this lockdown nonsense anytime soon, the pitcher of beerz is yours. Name the time and place...

Thanks for at least offering the help you could!

The project is completed and submitted; 12 pages of discussing sensor types, functions and comparisons, and which satellite they are associated with, 11- maps illustrating elevation, slope, aspect, land use then reclassify all of the previous maps to include 1 foot sea level rise. Flood assessments on both scenarios. Two maps of Lake O chlorophyll-a data for 2 days with statistical analysis comparison. And 2 tables with all chloropyhll ground data and bandwidth extraction raster value data with comparison.

The only time I've left my home office in 4 days was to walk my dogs. My brain feels like it went 12 rounds with Mike tyson, but that mofo is done!

ugh, I wish I saw this sooner... you can always use Python scripts to automate redundant processes

Thanks Salty. The extract by mask and extract points by values, did work, but as I mentioned before, they were such large folders that it takes a while to complete the process and my ADHD ass kept hitting buttons causing the program to lock up and cut out.
