Movie "Shoshanna", available at library, is about Shoshanna Borochov and 1930's jewish Palestine. Good watch. Interestingly, in the introduction clips which look like legit 1930s film, there are guys paddle boarding in the Mediterranean break. These guys are riding long double ended, flat top, kayak looking boards with super long, double ended kayak paddles. They look like they're purpose built and they know how to use them. One guy pulls a 360° for the camera. Typical of what happens when a camera shows up. Anyway, example of coevolution? I dunno. Ask Laird.

Convergent evolution. Tasmanian "wolf" was an extreme example. There's also mimicry. Several harmless snakes look a lot like coral snakes. It looks like the beach was a very big deal. Current-day surfing in Israel seems to date from Dorian Paskowitz, from San Clemente, coming with a bunch of boards.

I can't get this historic photo to show up here, so here's a link Tel Aviv beach 1930s, from a Library of Congress collection (Matson, not reachable)">Tel Aviv beach photo at Facebook

Library of Congress was up and running, so here's the key Matson beach photo. Tel Aviv was obviously a serious beach place at the time. The US was transitioning to men going bare chested in the early 1930s.Matson photo, LOC

The US used to be female?

Guess that explains Tpap. He doesn't seem to have made the full transition.

The Surf Museum at Ron Jon's has a framed male swimsut from the 1930s. Topless.
