i support Rule of Law and Due Process, not snatching people off the street and shipping them out to a foreign concentration camp for life in prison before anyone notices
Sorry but you can save your Fox narrative for someone who is willing to overlook the bigger picture by getting scared of boogie men if you are all so sure hes guilty (and maybe he is, that is for courts to decide) you surely shouldnt have a problem putting him before a judge and following the rule of law instead you are ok with your boogieman wisked away in the night like its East Berlin if this were Salem, Mass you'd be right there chanting 'burn the witch' about a 13 year old girl tied to a stake because some crazy priest told you she was the devils daughter---- what are you thinking? El Salvador sucks they can have it Edited: 05/09/2025 at 08:45 PM by paddleout |

On the plane now. American only charged me 35 for the boards. Pretty comfortable for the the 2.5 hour flight out of Miami. Swell looks good.

Pumping at La Bocana in El Tunco. We avoided the crowd by going at high noon bc anyone with any sense would be hiding from the sun and the heat at that time. 5 guys out. Well overhead and very good. I'm going to have to wear a hat next time.

I'm going to give the great state of California some of my money this summer. Yes, it's crowded in the AM, but as soon as the first puff on onshore wind dapples the surface, they are out. Trestles with an onshore flow is still better than 98% of Florida surf.

Just got back from El Salvador. We had a great swell and surfed a lot of good places. Stayed at Punta Roca Surf Resort with Bob Rotherham, who pioneered surfing there. His son Jimmy, the former national champion, was our guide. We would not have been able to paddle out at Punta Roca and ride a wave on the point without him giving the locals that look to back them off. They all watched that first wave very closely. If you botched, you may as well leave. We surfed La Bocana a few days, surfed behind the motel at Concal. It was never small. It was often big. I brought a brand new 6' creatures of leisure leash and it was 10' by the end of the day. My son smashed his knee and board on the rock dance getting out. His board was repaired back to new in 24 hours by the guy on the point for 30 bucks. Tipped him another five. THere are new malls being built and the road through La Libertad is fully under construction with only one lane at a time allowed. Progress has been fast and furious there and everywhere they building.

El Salvador's economy has grown, like most of the rest of Central America but remains less well off than the Bahamas, Costa Rica, a bit worse than Guatemala, better than Nicaragua and Honduras.

I'm pretty sure that most Salvadorans are still in the honeymoon period with Bukele. They are all enjoying prosperity, order and tourism. They explained to me that before Bukele, El Salvador was essentially a failed state and police officers wives were being murdered in broad daylight if they refused bribes. Bukele ran cleaning that up. He did. He incarcerated over one percent of his population in jails that are death dungeons. There are no trials or sentences, they are just in these Supermax facilities until they die.
This is the problem with dictators. We onlookers are well aware of the dangers of that much power in one man. Creating order there was not easy or fast and required people as hard as the gangmembers. Those people are still around once the bad guys are gone and they are still using that same playbook. The early choices for a dictator are simple. After four years, the best choices are the much harder ones. Enemies of the state with ms13 tattooes are the easy enemies in the early years of his presidency. As the years go by, what stops Bukele from identifying political enemies as enemies of the state? What happens to people being held with no charge or sentence? What about elections? ------------------------- "One of the reasons why propaganda tries to get you to hate government is because it's the one existing institution in which people can participate to some extent and constrain tyrannical unaccountable power." well he is back. and he's facing a judge like he should have been allowed to in the first place, since this is America after all.
So Trump and Latino Trump were lying to you when they said it couldnt be done. He is also pleading not guilty. I guess we shall see what they have on him, or wait for it don't have. Not going to spend my surf trip money supporting a country that is running US concentration camps. they could have this wrongly imprisoned father back to his children in 12 hours if they werent being so evil. i am not OK with this so long El Salvador https://www.usatoday.com/story...or-prison/83079141007/ Edited: 06/16/2025 at 08:50 PM by paddleout |

The White House has a list of "proof."
Is it accurate or are they liars? The courts will decide. ------------------------- I was right. |
