"Seas near Rodanthe have risen by 4.6 inches since 2010, according to a Washington Post analysis."
"The owners of the house, which last sold in 2021 for $500,000, could not immediately be reached for comment. But public records hint at its declining value in recent years. In 2005, it was assessed at $687,600, according to Dare County records. The most recent assessed value was $185,400." ------------------------- Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest. Denis Diderot |

6 houses? Wonder why all the beach houses in the world are not history? I would imagine bulldozers take down at least 6 houses a day. Seems that we have a bulldozer crisis, not a global warming crisis.

More like the land has shifted 4 inches lower. This is what happens when you build on a sand bar. Brilliant!

Technical but interesting look at inlet geology. Inlets Past Present Future

The seas have not risen ~5 inches in 14 years, the sandbar sunk. Oh one more thing, don't build your castle on sand unless you're willing to lose your castle.

This would happen in Brevard if not for the 50million in annual beach renourishment projects.
The whole east coast would have this issue if not for the billions in sand pumping. |

The story reports tide gauge data, which is presumably not corrected for coastal subsidence. Washington Post. The Post has been reporting regularly on coastal issues.

I guess nobody remembers global cooling nonsense they tried to force down our throats in the early eighties. Everything climate is always 5 or 10 years away from complete disaster. It's so non intelligent its not even funny! However you do have the rite to be wrong.

Climate scientists were very aware of the carbon dioxide problem back in the 1970s. The notion that everyone was afraid of a new ice age is pretty much mythology. Yes, in terms of geological time and climate cycles we're approaching another ice age, but the incredible rate of release of carbon into the atmosphere since the 1970s, and especially from the 1990s to the present, overwhelms any underlying cooling.

0.04% is what everyone worries about. Silly.

Percentage is perspective. That 43% increase would seem silly, unless it's the price of gas, $4.70 vs $3.29. Then folks get spun up. Go figure.
