Hello 2ndLight Familia,
I was pondering if anyone else ever experiences this "new ting" I've been experiencing every time that there is swell coming.. Basically long story short.. if I'm surfing the next day I ALWAYS only surf at dawn, and I basically CANT SLEEP (like either get like 2-3 hours or just wake up every hour hoping that its 445 so i can start getting ready) cause I guess I'm uber stoked about the waves I'm bout to get! This might just be a "over 40 bullshit" situation being that I just turned 46 at the end of July.. But I am super curious.. Do any of you guys go through this at all? (would like to add that I AM inland 1 hour drive minimum away, and I pretty much only go when its forecasted to be good, unlick a lot of homies on here that live beachside and surf daily so it isn't really much of a thing for them but for me? its like literally CHRISTMAS every time life allows me to surf personally) ------------------------- SK8 AND DESTROY |

It's been too long since there have been waves. I will let you know once that swell makes it's appearance.

Load the gear the day/night before. Give yourself time to "remember" things.
Get up, get coffee, go, get gone...... |

Perhaps try melatonin, or green, as this swell is going to be heavy and the last thing you want to do is be facing it on low rest not maximum energy. But
seriously to answer your question, yes and it's a good thing it means you've found something in life you really enjoy, like really enjoy deep down inside your soul! I get similar excitement in Decembers when I go up north to the mountains for the first ice climb of each season
------------------------- get up early and go surf - it'll make that hangover go away and/or make the workday more tolerable :) Edited: 09/02/2021 at 07:53 PM by surferclimber |

I still suffer from it and I live a few blocks from the ocean, but it really depends on size and quality. If it's log-able, I get there when I get there. If it's big, I hope I can make it out without too much of a beating. If it's good and clean, I need to beat the wind.

I used to get butterflies in CA driving to remote or barreling spots when bigger just before getting a visual. Not here though. This swell should be fun

The Wedge gives me nightmares, but I can't stop. I'm like a dog returning to eat its own vomit.

That wedgie vid was a dreamy wonder. Big wave, smile, big wave ridden perfectly with a flashy finale. No serious crowd, no getting pounded. I was there when a top water athlete (UNLV swimming) and lifeguard suffered a shattered leg. It appears he's about 25% back to full use of the leg, was getting around with a knee scooter.
