The East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame's facebook page has a posting saying that Regis passed on, but didn't elaborate.
Does anyone have info or confirmation? I found nothing more on the google machine. ------------------------- "Most people would die sooner than think; in fact, they do." - Bertrand Russell "Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Oh No, not Regis! RIP brother, and thanks for all the laughs at the factory, you made the night shift fun and never boring, great man, surfer and craftsman, I've got some great Regis stories but I'll just keep them to myself and smile at what we got away with while building surfboards late at night. Wow, sad news.

Was his nickname "Outrageous Regis" ?
I remember his pics in the east coast surf mags, I think his trademark was a pink board

Just heard of Regis's passing at Fred Cheney's paddle out. Boy that's some sad news. Regis was a fantastic surfer. I remember him doing really hard backside off the lips at third peak SI, he never surfed 1st peak...I guess he didn't want to deal with the cut throat competition to get a wave. He was one of a kind, a smooth operator for sure.

Wow RIP Regis, never met him but he shaped my first board (although not directly for me) 7-something retro single fin pin tail that I bought used at MTB back in the late 80s. Surfed it on the day after the gimungus Halloween swell (when the size had dropped down to my level, LOL). Eventually sold it to another beginning surfer.

RE : " He is the Quiet Flight surfboards godfather if I'm not mistaken. " You are not , Ed and Jim bought Quiet Flight from Regis in the late 70s , back when the original store was located at 35th street . My very first QF was a Twin Fin shaped by Regis !

I met Regis down in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, about 20 years ago. He was a lot of fun to hang with and a great surfer, too.
