Anyone been following this:

Missing diver

"diver's gear found with damage indicating 'marine predator'"

Didn't know the guy but he is friends with some of guys that I went to HS with. Although its rare that I ever saw sharks at the Poles, I always knew that further out it's a big migration path for whales and big fish and some of my fisherman friends had confirmed it. Creepy thought, but most likely he had some kind of condition where he passed out and some opportunistic shark(s) got to him when already unconscious or dead.

Survived by a wife and 3 kids... f'kn terrible

What a serious bummer. Strange story too. How did the gear get off of him, including the wetsuit?

That was my first thought. Maybe the predator had hold of his BC and he managed to get out of it, just a thought, no clue about the wetsuit. Positive vibes to his family, very sad situation. I surfed Poles a bunch when I was stationed at NAS Cecil Field, I always found it cold and murky and imagined creepy things beneath me, but never actually saw anything of concern.
