OC Register. The newspaper photo looks like Craig Whetter, an Orange County great. He, in turn, seems to have learned from Tanner McDaniel.

Tom Morey has died. At least he lasted long enough to see a vigorous bodyboard revival. Not to mention that during the covid period, everyone in southern California seemed to be buying bodyboards and swim fins.

Not only do most surfers owe Tom Morey for getting them started wave riding on some form of booger, he was also credited with some of the great surfboard design innovations.

I went from the rubber raft directly to the giant longboard tanker that took 2 people to get to the beach BUTT I recently found 2 original early Moreys @ the goodwill for $5 each, and sold em for a lot more soon after.
