We can send Debbie some angry letters, but I don't think it will help.

Don't make it like this sand dump is going to spoil our great current line ups. The bars suck! Just as likely get some positive bottoms out of it . Anyone really think it could be worse ?

We had a two year run of great sandbars after the last go.

Me/Us-- As much as I 'hate' the lobby for and unnatural dynamic of this sand bs, Our bars have gotten better from these dumps every year for the past 5-6 yrs or so anyway. The worst thing for Our quality here is, long period and flatness for awhile.

The sandbars here, over the last 5-8 years are dogshit compared to what they historically were....these more frequent, yearly....whether the beach needs it or not...sand dumps have destroyed the entirety of Brevard county sandbars. That isnt to say there isnt a good one here or there or that ones dont briefly develop with the new sand, but cumulatively this process has caught up with our beaches and left thumpy inside sand in shin deep water with a deep trough that goes out beyond where the sandbars used to be. When is the last time you saw a knee-waist day break and peel to the beach? Drive from Cocoa to south mel beach and, by and large, this is the case. Greg had a good post about it a while back talking about the sand grain size and why this is happening. Don't let them fool you on the "oh it comes from offshore so its natural". They are sucking mud off the bottom out there and dumping it on the beach....

Well said brother. The general dismissive attitude of people really is really fascinating too as seen above. "it can't get worse." Read a history book and educate yourselves please. These things have cascading effects. On the plus side it really does help me understand how the general public thinks about things

It's very rippable out front right now. Haven't surfed there in months and it looks like it may be working again

Dumping sand on the beach kills sea life habitat.

This was SB/IHB reef ecosystem 7 years ago.

video of IHB reef 7 years ago

Someone put up video/photos of the nearshore artificial reef put in place in 2017. Give us a report.

link at https://www.journalstandard.com/picture-gallery/news/2017/06/28/photos-installation-of-mid-reach-artificial-reef-begins/103263134/

The plan was to have a place for the marine life to live once the inshore habitat was destroyed.

That's just peachy. And the bar just down from us is shaping up nicely.

That's the one. A nice run-out is breaking it up, unfortunately, Todd keeps having to pull tourists out of it.
