I suspect that if you didn't get enough waves, it wasn't really because of them

They were towing in. Cocoa Beach has a law against jet powered craft that close to shore. Not to mention that there are a zillion miles of open beach and foils don't even need a breaking wave to function.

I over slept and missed it. I went down after the storms and asked one of the local guys if it was fun earlier and he blew his top over the jet skis.

And you guys are dead wrong, Joe blows up on his 7'6" softtop. He doesn't even use fins.

"Is that a water spout?"

"Nope, that's JOESTRUMMER doing 360's."

The fourth board in my quiver is the beater. It's yellow, a bit delammed, but still flies. It's perfect for no-shame plow-overs of wave hogs, and for foiling the foilers. It takes dings, doesn't even care. It's like having an old car that parts the red sea when people see you barreling down the throughway.

a good foiler being an ass can take any wave they want, including consecutive waves in set without even hopping off. ever stop to think maybe people are just being asshats? plenty of them out there, not sure why you would think to the contrary unless you were the asshat on the foil being described

I was there that same day and the only issues about the foilers seems to be peoples's attitudes. I was out for two hours and I did not see any of those guys drop in, cut off or hog any waves. The waves they did catch were ones that nobody else was on and probably would not have been able to catch if they tried. I can see how watching them flying on waves for hundreds of yards could bring out the whiners. Personally I thought it was amazing. Everyone is grumpy now because surfing is so restricted. It can be much more fun if you just focus on enjoying the waves you are on.

surfersensei : You are either not very observant or just plain blind , as the clowns in question did indeed feel the need to go on just about anything that came in . It is about proper manners and respect for the locals wherever you go , out of state , out of country or just to the end of the street . The spot in question ( Jimmy Slade Way ) has a VERY tight knit Local crew ( as Cole can attest to ) and the consensus was that their behavior was WAY out of line . Even the 11 time World champ would have called them on it !

Seems to me that they are much more dangerous to other people in crowded conditions. No fun getting hit by a regular surf board, but it seems that those foils could really mess you up. Am I wrong?

Those things are cool, Kai Lenny is doing some insane stuff on them, but they have no place in a regular lineup. I wouldn't wanna be involved with a wipeout with one of those things. In my opinion neither do SUPs but I've given up on that front.

That spot is always unusually crowded. The access smell like urine lol. Find a lot more peace north or south of that.

Exactly, avoid it all and surf somewhere else.
