Lip Quencher, my brother had a sweet quad.

He was a nice and humble guy. I first met him at his Off the Wall shop just north of Patrick back in the early 80's. He gave so many bro deals, the shop didn't last long, but he sure kept his foot in the industry.

RIP brother.

Originally posted by: SurferMic Wow! that is real sad news, Steve was a great guy and amazing craftsman, I showed up on his doorstep around 1984 as a long hair mullet wearing skatepunk from Tampa who had only been surfing a few years, he went over how to shape, glass and sand a board and sold me a few gallons of resin (249) and wax solution to turn 249 into 250, gave me the cloth for free and a small bottle of MEKP and directed me to Clark foam "Just tell them Steve sent you" he said on the way out of his garage...Fast forward 5 years I am pumping out 14 boards a day at H2O glassing in SC, Full time laminator Fin/Hot Coat. Never really got a chance to thank him in person for his time and the many tips he gave me. THANK YOU STEVE! you shaped my life! He was so mellow and helpful, if you have a Steve Holloway shape , cherish it, it was made by a man who knew his craft and was an exceptional human being...Rest In Peace Steve...very sorry to hear, prayers to his family.
Good story.... RIP Steve

Steve was a great guy. and an excellent craftsman. If one of his boards had a blemish, he would proclaim "make it a rental". He was a perfectionist. Although I haven't seen him in years, I will truly miss him. God speed my brother.

I worked with Steve at his shop in the colorful stretch of Aurora Road in Melbourne, back in the 1980s. And again later when he had a nicer factory off of Barnes in Rockledge. A unique guy, for certain. Steve truly loved being a boardbuilder, that's for sure. RIP Steve. - Joe Roberts

Wow, that is some sad news. He was a fixture in the Brevard surfboard industry forever. I did some work(banging nails, drywall, etc) for him briefly when he was setting up his factory on Aurora Road mentioned in an earlier post. Steve was very easy to work for. I do recall him always cutting a nice deal for gear at one of his several retail endeavors. RIP Steve! Does anybody know if a "Paddle Out" is planned? - George Drazich

Got my first board from Steve in 1976, co-produced with Bill Eberwein on the Artesian label. 4 years later, the two were making boards for the Ron Jon Surf Team. We had a killer team that included Bill McMillen, Pete Hodgson, Bill and Joe Johnson (shapers for the Hobgoods), Kelly Slater, etc.

Great guy all around.

We lost another great one

RIP

He sold me a real pretty 7.0 triple stringer funshape once, well practically gave it to me.
Nice guy.
