April 1, 1 p.m.: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issues an executive order to limit movements going into effect Thursday at midnight. Only travel for essential reasons will be permitted. This includes getting food from grocery stores, going to essential workplaces and seeking medical assistance.

"essential activities" That would include surfing for me but I don't think it will pass the current situation. Beach side residents will be the only surfers out on this swell. They might even patrol the beach on 4 wheelers. Cop told me that last weekend down in IRC.

i believe exercise is considered essential. so walking, running, or riding your bike will keep you safe on the streets. surfing is a lot of exercise unless you are a bobber

So can you drive from Orlando to Coca Beach for a recreational activity? Not that I have to but curious how much latitude we have to travel to a break.

What has changed????

Doesn't seem much different that what the 6' social distance was doing...
.... at least for me.

The stay at home order is the new thing. I guess the main thing is all businesses and organizations must close- unless deemed essential. But I think travel to surf and parking along roadsides will much more scrutinized. A police officer could pull you over and say where you going? If you're on 95 and say surfing I could see some eye rolling going on.

this will vary for each county, some more rural than others. but let me tell you, when more and more cops become infected (several dozen are quarantined in tampa, on the rise in pinellas, 1400 in NYC...) i SERIOUSLY doubt that they're gonna be prioritizing kicking a few surfers off of the beach. hence why gov. desatan changed the 6 month rule for retired police and medical ppl to get back on the job. you really think they're releasing prisoners only to put more people (who have potentially been exposed) back inside? shit is hitting the fan and they're running out of wipes (double entendre)...just be sensible.
