Noticed a small percentage of mango are just now starting to flower. Didn't see any flowering in December. Will be an interesting year on mango production. Later flowering, may mean later season.

Same here. My Haden is just starting to have buds come through but my Tebow hasn't shown anything yet. Last year I had a large crop from both trees but both also started blooming in December.
What do you think is driving the late flowering, the dry winter? |

I'm sure it is environmental. Maybe the late start of winter and mango needing to go dormant but didn't until later on. Cold snaps may have slowed them down as well in December.

My camellia opened its first flowers this week, almost a month late. Blame the warm December?

I thought this was good for mango production, cool and dry? I have some starting to bloom a little hoping for a good year.

Mango sprouts are emerging! Lychee starting to flower as well. The recent cold is good for lychee bloom.

Hopefully we are back on track with the warmer weather for lots of mango production.

Mango are in full bloom now! My jaboticabo just busted a move also and in full bloom.
Never fertilize a fruit tree while it is blooming. The nitrogen may abort the flowers for green flush growth. Fertilize mango after fruit drop. late summer. Use low nitrogen formulas if none at all. |

Mangos are in full flower. One of my bus routes to work in Portland, Oregon had a big lychee tree. It seemed quite happy.

That looks like a loquat, which is way more cold tolerant and I've seen grown up to Gainesville.

My apologies. My brain was thinking of the wrong fruit! I'm actually surprised there's happy loquats here in Vero and I think Ft Pierce.

Julie dropped 90% of it's BB's as I call them, any chance of a 2nd flowering and more fruit?...my early Mangos are not looking too productive this year.

Mango flowering this late is iffy. I have some developing fruit, but haven't looked too closely. Don't fertilize or water mango this time of year. Let them stay dry.

Looked yesterday. My Rosigold (early) has tons of little developing fruit on it. Yeah. I like rosigold.
The others still are at pea size. |

My Mallika is looking good, lots of fruit set, hope it holds.
